If they were doing Square-Enix impressions, they'd be releasing good, playable games.

EA do release good playable games. No they do. Simcity might be a clusterfuck of heroic proportions but they release a hell of a lot of excellent quality games that are fun to play and are loved by their fans. Sure BF3 might be groused about by grumpy grognards but it is still the best game of its type since BF2142. You might not like FIFA but it is the premiere football game on the market because it is the best game of its type. Now I hated ME2, but it seemed a popular game at the time. You can call them greedy, you can call them stupid, you can even put on your tinfoil hat and moan about Origin stealing your porn and implanting radio transmitters in your teeth, but you can't deny they publish some good games.

Actually, I consider the miniature BF 1943 to be vastly superior to both BC2 and BF3. BF3 just doesn't play like I expected a BF game to, though I admittedly stopped playing before Armored Kill. Too much corridor-based combat in most pre-AK maps, the game's designed more around Rush than Conquest (one of my biggest gripes with BC2 as well), far too many non-destructible walls and buildings in a game supposedly designed explicitly with environmental destruction in mind (my favorite thing about BC2 - it did that very well), the Engineer class still felt way too effective at general combat, and I just flat-out hate it when any game uses a "constantly increasing random spread while you fire" mechanic as a lazy substitute for recoil.

That looks exactly like David Mason and inexplicably like Bioshock: Infinite's protagonist... aw. I was hoping for some new character styles for once, just once.

It's a sign to me that the single-player will be an afterthought. As it probably should be with a Battlefield game, but still, why do it at all then?

Where are the shooters that let me play as an alien?

Yes I'm cynical, I've never played a Battle Field or Call of Duty outside of a free weekend on Steam, and I don't plan on investing in the series any time soon.

Really? I find every Battlefield game to date, especially the first ones, are all brilliant. Aside from BF3's Premium bullshit of course.

Seconded. I was very disappointed in End Game, to the point where I'm refusing to play it because it wasn't a 2143 expansion.
