Until they change the no lawsuit part of the ToS, they're still on my no-buy list. It's against my morals to buy something under conditions like that.

It's an improvement, certainly. But it's one thing on a list of abusive behaviors they'd have to curb before I'd consider buying a game from them again, an extended circuit of failures of transparency, abuses of power, and visible contempt for their users.

Some semblance of an "All right, we admit it, this policy was wrong in the first place" would be appreciated, too... but I'd not hold my breath.

It's still not as good as the way Valve handles bans.
I've never been banned on Steam so I'm not entirely sure on this but I thought that if your Steamaccount gets banned you can't access your games anymore. So in this regard, Origin would be better than Steam or am I wrong?

Ya there are different sorts of bans for steam. There is a forum ban which means nothing because the steam forums are not tied to the actual steam names. There is VAC ban, which means you can't play on VAC secured servers any more, and then there is an actual ban from the steam service that means you no longer have access to your games.

Typically speaking it's really hard to get an actual ban, typically it needs to have something to do with fraud or something else $$ related.

Right now though Orgin has only 1 sort of Ban, which is basically 'we ban you from our forums, multiplayer and single player' now they have the 'we ban you from using all the online features and multiplayer but hey you can still play in offline mode.' It's very poorly handled and the whole loosing access to your games over a forum ban is not new or recent it's been happening since EA download Manager came out (what they called origin before they rebranded it).

Good on them for trying. It isn't going to change much of how people picture them, as apparently they killed everyone's dog, but hey it is a step in the right direction. Hopefully they will do more things to improve customer relations.

I'd like to think that EA is starting to realize they need to change themselves up a bit, and that this is a step towards doing that, but I've personally noticed that every time it seems like EA is starting to get it's act together and is moving to be less dickish, they fall right back into bad habits. But, I guess we'll see.

Step in the right direction, but still needs work so that it is as graduated as Steams is, i.e posting undesired comment in the forums get you a ban from the forums, not from the whole system and all your games therein.

Now if they could just make the sending of what Origin has found while looking around your system optional (i.e the way Steam does it), I can start using it. Why is this a problem EA?

Most people will still pick yes to send the info (just look how many pick yes for Steam) and at least you will be getting money from those who don't tick yes, unlike at the moment. Is this info really worth more to you than the extra revenue you could be getting from hold outs like me. If so that is even more of a reason for not to give you the info, if it is that valuable......

I love how it always EA's terms of service that prevents class action suits, never Sony or God forbid AT&T. Plsce the blame for that where it belongs, the US Supreme Court. Seriously, fuck AT&T.
But then it'd stop supporting their case and they'd have to actually take action instead of just complaining about it!

I still don't support Origin. It's never going on my computer. Never. Why? There's no reason for me to get it. No games in their store, no special deals that are offered like on Steam and GOG, and most importantly, there's no reason to forcefully split up my PC library with multiple digital distribution services.

This. Exactly this.

The assholic way they handle customers is just icing on the cake.

Yea, no, fuck EA. This is why digital distribution and required accounts to play games will always suck, because the companies want to control everything you do despite paying for it.

No, being denied any part of a product you pay for over an internet based violation of a TOS or EULA that no judge would allow in court when challenged is unacceptable.
CD Projekt says hi. They aren't all bad.

The only good news is bad news.

People are still going to hate anyway, it's not Steam.
Which is why people will ***** about this move.

"Hey guys, we're being less douchey to our customers."

"WAAAAAAAAAAAH YOU SUCK!"
It's more like, "Yo bitchez! EA up in this hizzey! Where taking the douche nozzle down a few notches, bra!" To little, to late.

Off Topic: I still hate Capcom more for canceling MML3.

Christ. They pull something out of their butts every week don't they? -_- Whatever. 1000 steps backwards, 1 step forward (if you can call it that) is not going to change people's opinions much.

Because the Escapist doesn't make any games...? At least to my knowledge? *Sigh*
Well, duh, that's why it's a terrible comparison in the first place. I'm sorry this is lost on you the third time around.
Mk, cool story bro. Not interested in starting a dumb argument so...have fun with that.

Yeah...it's unrelated but I'm still pissed at Capcom because of that. In fact, I might dislike Capcom more than any other company at the moment. I mean, with EA, you know what you're getting into, but Capcom? The one company that has always been there? Betraying perhaps its most iconic and legendary mascot? It sounds a bit overdramatic but...the fact is we don't have MML3 and we never will.

I dislike both companies but hey, if they make a good game, I might buy their games. Maybe. It's not like I despise them forever or anything. *Shrugs*
