I see now what you mean, but you're argument is still flawed. First of all, the current 3d used by Sony and Hollywood DOES show depth, and so will the 3ds. In these movies and games, you have depth perception, because your brain is receiving 2 modified pictures of the same space. Not only do things pop out of the screen, but the screen appears to be a window through which you can look far into the distance if the environment will allow you. Also, from any 1 viewpoint of the real world, you cannot view any object from multiple sides. (well 2 sides- 1 for each eye, but the amount that allows you to see compared to a single eye is very small) You would need to rotate the object, or yourself around the object to see it from multiple angles, just as you would a video game character. Having said that, there is nothing a holographic projection can do that cannot be done with the current technology. Also, the type of projection that I think you're talking about would be made up of light and transparent, which I believe would sacrifice precision, color, and make the game difficult to play in a bright setting.JaredXE said:Electrogecko said:I'm so sick of people saying that this 3d is "not real." Wtf does that even mean. Clearly, it's real, because it appears 3d to you. Knowing that it's made up of 2 2d images makes you uninterested? Guess what! You're video games are made up of a bunch of dots of light!! Please explain what you mean by "not real." You need to have a physical object popping out of the screen?JaredXE said:And by magic they mean IT'S NOT REAL.
Not real 3D I mean.
Well yes, actually. No, not physical objects, but in order for it to be a real 3D image, there needs to be actual depth. A holographic projection that enables us to see an image from different viewpoints, WITH DIFFERENT ANGLES SHOWN, is a real 3D image. What is currently shown in theatres and in the new 3DS is a 2D optical illusion that does not provide actual depth or distance. You know how I know the difference? Because I deal with the 3-dimensional world around me. As does everybody in the world.
The illusions suck, give me holograms.
