If this is true, I'm not buying Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3 or whatever worthwhile games that will be required to run this. Wonder what you would have to do if you buy them retail though.
I'm sure that the retail versions will forcibly install Origin on your computer, so that when BF3 and ME3 and all the other big-name EA games come out and sell a lot of hard copies, they can say Origin is a huge success. Also, they'll probably start enforcing DRM not unlike the type in Darkspore (Which requires a constant internet connection at all times to play the single-player), and because Origin will have tons of EA Exclusive titles they will be able to keep them at whatever prices they want.

But that's just my opinion. After all, doesn't the retail copy of Alice: Madness Returns come with Origin?

If that is true then I will sadly not be getting The Old Republic
Edit:
Just went to the TOR website heard the opening score to Star Wars and now I will let EA have their way with me...just to EPIC

Another reason EA origins will fail to the point of no return against steam. Also, why does it matter if the game is bought on origins or steam? they get just as much money selling them for the same price, so does it really matter?
Well a few reasons:
- from what I know Valve pockets 30% of all sales, not a small amount of money
- EA can't freely advertise their games
- EA can't take the old games off Steam to pressure people into new games
- EA can't limit howmany times you install your game
- EA can't control the second hand market
- EA can't ban you from Steam if you say nasty things on their forums

And many more Dick Dastardly things EA is thinking of right now.

If this is true, R.I.P. EA Origin. You died before you lived. Thoughts?

It's the same agreement they've used for the EA Store and EA Download Manager in the past, and it's not something they actually enforce. They're basically just covering their asses in case something comes up that forces them to take down some older games from their service.
We need more people like you.
Just because something says in an EULA, doesn't mean they'll actually start doing bashit insane things like this example.

Reading some of Origin's EULA. Some of this stuff is stupid.

"Electronic Arts hereby grants, and you accept, a limited, terminable, non-exclusive license and right to use the Software for your personal use in accordance with this Agreement and the Subscription Terms. The Software is licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Software."

"ELECTRONIC ARTS DOES NOT GUARANTEE CONTINUOUS, ERROR-FREE, VIRUS-FREE OR SECURE OPERATION AND ACCESS TO ORIGIN, THE SOFTWARE, YOUR ACCOUNT AND/OR YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS(S).

Man, what total BS. This is going to amazingly fail.

If you got mad at this, or the OP, then you probably should read more EULAs, because these quotes in my post aren't from Origin's EULA... they're from Steam's EULA agreement... I just changed a few words

EA "Keeps your games" after a year? Oh, you mean the games you wouldn't have owned anyways?

I fail to see how this is better or worse.

Wtf people! Until someone provides a link to the page and/or file that makes this statement so I can read it in it's entirety, I will consider this to be a bad publicity stunt or smear campaign against EA. So far all I can find is the same two pictures posted over and over again. Pictures which would easily have been created by someone else.

EA Origins will fall if they actually start removing user licenses after a year. Although to be honest I would be happy to see EA fall completely.

It's part of the license agreement Origin inherited from the EA Store and the EA Download Manager. It's just a safety precaution in case they are legally obligated to stop distributing a certain piece of software.

For example, if you had purchased a James Bond game from them in 2005, they would not have been able to supply you with it anymore when Activision took over the license in 2006.

I feel like they were just banking on the fact that most people don't read the Terms of Service Agreement.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure most of us can agree that Origin was destined to fail. Steam is damn near invincible at this point, especially with the huge headstart it had.

I hate to break this to you guys, but this EULA is a better deal than you're currently getting. This actually gaurantees that you'll be able to access your game for at least one year, as opposed to "for as long as we feel like".

Bottom line: Unless you can install the game on a fresh machine without connecting to someboy's servers, all you have is an extended rental.

I don't have enough room for more nails on the coffin that is EA's Origin. I guess this thread will just be a cinder block to keep it buried in the ground. How does EA even survive? It's run by the biggest group of idiots on the market, all paid for by their ridiculous Madden series and powered by pure hatred.

If Origin is force-installed with Battlefield 3/Mass Effect 3, then I just saved myself over a hundred dollars. Thanks EA. I'll use that for my Steam account instead. Bye now!

Wow, makes you wonder if Origin will even last a year. What do they have over Steam again?
Let's hope it fails so bad, they'll fire the right people and stop treating the consumers as enemies...

If EA is going to be a giant douche on digital sales im going to be a douche and buy there games for the 360, used, and instead of selling it back to gamestop I will sell it to my friend, used, and tell him to sell the game, used. essentially screwing EA over at least 3 times.

Well, it's pretty much official

I am not buying a single EA title that requires Origin or supports it in some way, shape or form.

EA has been trying especially hard, lately, to grab the "Douchebaggiest Company in the History of the Game Industry" lately.

If you don't mind I'll stick to Steam and the occasional boxed copy of a game.

Simple, don't buy digital through Origin.

I bought Crysis 2 off the main site a couple of days ago and they gave me the option for a physical copy. I was insanely pleased about that. Unless of course this applies for physical as well.

Seems EA is jealous off Activision's new rep as the big bad of the gaming industry, and are now finding new ways to scare customers away.

Im someone who has a massive backlog of games that ive yet to play. So its a regular occurance that a game will be sitting on my shelf or steam account much longer than a year before I get around to playing it.

I doubt EA will enfore the rule but it still makes me wary of buying Origin games
