Wow, you pulled a story about a Republican Candidate from the Huffington Post.... One of the most liberal left papers in America. Nice sourcing. No matter what you think, they purposely made this connection as a way to discredit him... though being a Republican tends to be discrediting enough.

But, on the general topic. He may not have pulled this from the game, or he may have. The people who invented flip phones swear up and down they didn't take the idea from Star Trek TOS for them. It may be true. It may not be true. It may also be an original idea he had. He is not the first candidate to propose a flat tax on these items and being a Republican, he is supposed to believe in low taxes, and this would make a total taxation income rate of 27% (the majority still coming from the rich). People do have original ideas that they come up with that others also come up with. No one can claim original knowledge in anything.
This connection has been around since he first introduced the plan.

He also quoted the Pokemon Theme Song during a debate, and has gone on record to say that he would never appoint a Muslim to the Supreme Court.

This isn't about liberal or Republican. This is about the fact that Cain is batshit crazy.

Oh, wow. EA is actually making a somewhat clever joke, but it wasn't really funny.

Well time to go back to the Sims 3 and make an entire family of famous politicians! Thanks EA for the inspiration! I enjoyed that video...

All these nines make me want to play some Moonbase Alpha.
I'm laughing for real right now.
I can't believe I wasn't ninja'd on this thought, though. All of this NINENINENINENINENINE is a dead giveaway to the meme.

But the connection was originally pointed out by the Huffington Post, at least as near as I could tell when I followed the link ad nauseum. And it's not proof he is bat shit crazy by any stretch of the imagination. It's proof that he proposed a plan that is like one found in a game. So, unfortunately, it has everything to do with Republicrats and Demopublicans. But for real though, this of course has everything to do with politics. Calling a candidate you don't like, batshit crazy, unfortunately becomes a political statement in this case because of who the article is about. I think they are all batshit crazy and can't be trusted. That is my political statement. :p

Regardless of where he got it from, his plan only serves to lower taxes on the rich and raise them on the poor. This strategy is so messed up I half expect him to grow a handlebar mustache and start twisting it during debates.

...I don't think anyone -seriously- thinks he ripped the tax plan from Simcity 4. Hell, I hate the man and think his 'plan' is a complete crock, but I don't think he'd rip off a video game.

EA needs to do more of this stuff and less obscure clauses in our EAs.

...I wonder if my comp can run SimCity 4...

Amusing. Almost enough for me to get the game too. If only it wasn't on Origin...

"You see, when you're number one or two, the BARNACLES COME OUT TO LATCH ON TO YOUR DELICIOUS UNDERBELLY. I'M A BIG FISH NOW."

Honestly, he either thinks it's a serious accusation, or he legitimately DID take it from Sim City, because that is one fervent denial.

For the unwashed barbarian horde that we call the "Average american voter" The Idea it came from a Video game is tantamount to saying he got it from Aliens, They don't pay attention to anything close to the state of culture, Geopolitics, and other matters that effect them indirectly in huge ways.

The idea of using a flipping mechanism to protect an object and reduce it's profile was present in many, many other objects prior to the flip phone and Star Trek. Switchblades, various guns, and camping gear all come to mind.
While that may be true, the uses of the two devices are eerily similar. But, just like my argument, it may or may not be true. No one can know.

For saying that it's a lie so many times, you'd almost wonder whether or not he was lying.
...within a lie!

If I had a tax plan that incidentally mirrored a Simcity game, I'd make a note to rethink the whole thing. In Cain's situation, though, I wouldn't be too surprised if he took EA up on that $9.99 deal and playtested his tax proposal firsthand.
