It's kinda funny how badly the people who frequent this site rage all over anything/everything EA does. I wonder how it would be if we did this for every game developer.

New thread incoming:

"Valve still hasn't released Half Life 3!"
"OMG Valve is still using the source engine instead of making a new one!"

Seriously, you people try too hard.

After looking at those pictures... I miss C&C95. Man things have changed.

OT: As previously stated by other posters, it's likely a design from an artist they outsourced to and no one green lighting the project was familiar with the source material.

I was about to...

But honestly, in this case, I can't. Usually when someone claims some creator "stole" something from another, it's often just a case of them using similar tropes and designs. Like all creative endeavour.

But in this case... The flippin things looks exactly the same, there's just no excuse for it! It's not like it would be hard to create something more individual, EA. C&C's got a rather rich identity of its own you could scavenge ideas from.

Considering petitions have zero impact on what a studio does or doesn't include in a game, I don't see why they'd bother making a bot to spam it. Compared to, you know, just ordering the studio to do whatever.

obviously you don't understand the power of public relations. They're faking the support of an rights movement in order to either try and wash away the bad will they have earned recently or just make money off the free publicity saying thousands of gay rights supporters signing their petition would earn them. Petitions have no legal power, but public opinion or rather perceived public opinion can change the way people look at something. The same reason they paid people to rally against dante's inferno in order to drum up support for their product by portraying it as being attacked by zealots.

As for that not knowing, your talking about them as if they're pants on head retarded. Are you saying not just 1, but 2 complete copies slipped by their lawyers and what ever other departments they have to keep their money in the scrooge mcduck safe everyone imagines they have. To get into development is one thing, to get that far down the chain that their using it to show case the game would suggest gross incompetence, and while not impossible, would mean that more then just a few people would lose their jobs from the fall out from this.

And EA goes "Fuck this... buy games workshop, fire all the staff who oppose us and shut the rest of the company down."

Wouldn't surprise me :p

I don't think EA has the money to buy Games Workshop. They're rich yes, but so is GW.

Mate, don't give people ideas.

And anyway, you know that whenever Half Life 3 does come out this site will be awash with threads about how the ending is wrong or Gordon's beard isn't the same as in Half Life 1 so we should all boycott Valve until they change it.

I think youre underestimating the size difference between the video game and tabletop markets.

Obviously GW isnt so small that it would really be bought on just a whim like that, but EA's annual turnover is somewhere around 20 times bigger than GW's. I dont think theyd have too much trouble swallowing up GW is they decided to turn their attention to it.

Holy shit, that's just crazy. the point when I noticed that even the nuts and bolts on the outside armor are identical is just unforgivable.

I actually think that would be an improvement XD

But then it would be called dawn of war...
Hey, I liked Dawn of War! It was the last time in like 6 years where Steve Bloomers was any good.

Did GW properly buy the rights from Armourcast, or did they die out or go into limbo?

That's the funny thing about what Games Workshop did to Armourcast. If they didn't go through the proper channels, then EA could actually come out of this with Games Workshop, and to a lesser extent THQ.

Well, I did tell Fredrick from Vietnam not to make the model look so similar but apparently he was forced to.

OT: There should be some leeway with most copyright infringement but that's more copyright theft! No excuse for that!

I like how apparently this one designer is now the whole of EA.

Kinda like how although I'm just the Information Assistants Assistant at work, because I did some writing for the Summer Schools I'm actually the whole of the organisation.

How much input/power/pull do you think this guy has?

I doubt EA activley said "Mwahaha lets rip off warhammer for the evlulz!" I think they hired a designer who copied them, not EA.

40k is leagues above C&C. Most of C&C is average or good, while 40k has excellent books, miniatures etc.

Although those new dark eldar and necron are taking a similar turn as some of C&C.

Souls encased in robots driving a soul encased in a giant cannon? The necrons used to be almost scary.

Also Matt Ward.|
I used to be REALLY into C&C - I think it is a really intruding idea how half of it was based on the myth of Cain, and the post apocalyptic Tiberium scenario was actually really cool. The cyberpunk like NOD versus the futuristic GDI was also very cool, and the Scrin were cool too (I haven't played past Tiberian Sun mind you). The whole thing revolving around Tiberium and everyone never knowing what Kane was up to was just really cool.

40K is entirely different - the two should never be compared or mixed because they're so vastly different.
