I object to this. I prefer console exclusivity. Some things feel more natural with a mouse and keyboard or with a controller. (Don't post pics of a PC controller. Irrelevant to the issue discussed.)

So they are doing the plan they they dropped as "not worth it" a year ago. thats one way to turn on youre heels. dont worry, a small icelandic company CCP has beat you to it, they are going to release Dust514 and us PC master race will be able to bomb the poor PS3 newbies.

This fills me with an indescribable terror. I play games to play games, not chat to people. If I want to talk to people I meet up with my mates and if we play games it will be mario kart at 1 of our homes. Or if we do decide on playing a game over the net it will be torchlight 2 (when released) on steam, or diablo 2 LAN play.

I just got to ask, who's this Peter Moore guy? This is the first time I've seen him, and unlike the rest of those idiots over at EA he at least TRIES to sound sane and intelligent.

OT: Cross platform gaming was "the future" YEARS ago, and they're just NOW realizing that it would work? Way to jump aboard the freaking obvious train EA! Did Captain Obvious give you a ticket?

Heh, I'm just going to sit back, grab some popcorn, and watch as they royally f*** this up like they do everything else.

OK Escapist, we realize you hate EA. We all do. Now, stop pandering to your audience like a whore if you would, please. Here we have an article outlining a good idea. EA isn't the first to embrace cross platforming and cross platforming very likely is the future of gaming. Then suddenly: gasp! EA might be doing this to get more coffers from gullible twats! First, yes EA is actually trying to make more money; that's a valid business model. Second, people that are so dense that they bankrupt themselves in micro-transactions are not worth your consideration or mine. To put it more plainly, this article could have done without the standard boilerplate 'EA is evil' spin. If your goal is to see this industry be taken seriously, then your journalism needs to grow up and rise to the challenge of being responsible and well measured and not stoop to speculation and sensationalism.

They tried that with Shadowrun, the PC players walked all over the Xbox players.

You can't have PC and Console players on the same playing field doing the same thing, the PC keyboard and mouse just allows for better control.

Eve Online's DUST 514 thing on the PS3, however, looks to me like a way of integrating a cross platform system pretty well.

Tomorrow EA released a statement where it stated that although they support cross platform play. None of their games ever will support that function.

This is EA people. The company that says one thing, then does the other, then sends you a smug e-mail telling you how smart it was about doing it.

EA derp Money Herpderp

that's all I heard
Why come into a thread and comment if that's all your're going to contribute? Not the least bit constructive and adds nothing at all in the way of conversation or opinion of substance.

I'd work on that if I were you.
All I hear was Derp self righteous indignation herp derp

The sentiment I was trying to get across is EA say many things that amount to "We like money this might make money" whether they are logical or not, hypocritical or not. They are an unfeeling non corporeal, money sucking, entity that will release useless statements without remorse. The things they say now blur into one pointless string of non comments that matter little to anyone as it's either lies or PR or them thinking out loud about profit.

but I thought some people might understand that from subtext, obviously you didn't

I'd work on that if I were you. Work on being non confrontational too. Probably should work on being less condescending.

Now you've provoked me into replying to your needless comments that add nothing in the way of conversation or express any opinion of substance.

"Whether or not the costumor is as savvy in this brave new world as EA remains to be seen"

Well, I guess that makes me not savvy in this brave new world of social media and whatnot. I do not need to link stuff to my facebook, my twitter or anything else.

I realize there is a market for this. But it's the farmvile market, the people who actually buy shit on that trough afforementioned microtransactions, the people who are stupid enough to buy expensive stuff for the Sims, and I doubt these mix well with the Battlefield, Mass Effect, Dead Space crowd.

I really want EA to better themselves....I really do. But everytime they open their mouth it seems like they are trying another zany scheme to get as much money out of their customers as possible like a Scooby Doo villain.

Except PC isn't mentioned specifically. PC has never been in people's minds when thinking of social networks or mobile devices. I wouldn't get your hopes up of playing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer from your office to your buddy's XBox anytime soon.
Addendum:
Bear in mind Microsoft has yet to reverse its position on cross-platform play between the PC and Xbox. It doesn't matter what EA wants to do. In the end, Microsoft controls how the games are played on the Xbox. It's a stupid position where they think mouse and keyboard outclasses controllers. I have a feeling any hardcore gamer on the Xbox will give me a run for my money.
I appreciate that viewpoint. I have held my own using a controller vs. keyboard and mouse. Yes, aiming is a bit more challenging but I find the controller much more ergonomic for endurance gaming.

In the end, I just think that if you wanted to use a keyboard and mouse on Xbox, you should be allowed to. The original justification of not allowing it was to not have it looked at as a PC. I think its a bit late for that now.
One should suspect that if Microsoft did allow for mouse and keyboard with the Xbox, then people would outright say it was just a PC, and therefore Microsoft should allow other programs on it. As it is now, everything for the Xbox is proprietary and Microsoft doesn't have to worry about getting burned at the stake again for monopolizing.
It is rather funny that two of the peripherals, the 360 controller and the Kinect, are compatible on PC. 'Tis a thin line MS walks on.
