Which ironically indicates that you have more artistic originality than Langdell. :p

Why the hell has it take this long, the guy has no legitimate defence against these claims. Guess that won't stop his lawyers bullsh*tting in court though.
Actually he does have some legal way of continuing. I can't remember exactly what it was...something about funding re-releases of their old games. It was flimsy as hell but it kept them afloat. Now it looks like EA might have found some way to break the loophole and hopefully they do.

EA versus Tim Langdell? The first fight in a long time where I hate both parties, and it's not to the death. Damn it.

And how the hell does he think he owns the word edge? Because it's the name of his company?
Basically. He filed for use of the name back in the 80s when the company still existed as developers. You can probably find the whole story online someplace (maybe even here.)
By his logic, starting a company called The would be one of the most profitable moves ever.

That picture of him looks a lot like my computer science teacher if my computer science teacher grew a goatee, and smiled occasionally.

I personally hope Tim Langdell has every penny he ever made from a lawsuit forcibly removed from his greedy hands. For bonus points, make him legally forbidden from earning anything above minimum wage for a while.

Strictly speaking, you cannot copyright "The", now, he did get the copyright, original on "Edge Games", which on its face is fairly legitimate, and then used it to become a copyright bully. He filed suits against the Anthony Hopkins film about fifteen years ago, against the above mentioned Edge Magazine, and so on, claiming that all of them were infringing on his copyrights.

Mirror's Edge is a little more complex. Langdell put a mockup cover of a game supposedly in development called Mirrors, and claimed that EA was deliberately trying to steal his copyright. Now, if I'm remembering correctly, someone sourced the part of an image used to someone's DeviantArt page. Meaning he literally stole someone else's copyrighted work in order to claim that he was working on a project that EA was deliberately trying to undermine. He's since changed the sampled art to something else which, last time I checked, had yet to be identified.

I hope Tim Langdell wins this, and proceeds to sue U2 and World Wrestling Entertainment.

Seriously, the dude his ginormous balls here.

Does he also own The Edge

I suppose this is good news for Mirror's Edge 2 as I doubt they would be doing this otherwise

At least he is keeping the lawyers and Court officals fed.
And that bretty much all he does.
Has he really done something? If he has I haven't heard of them.

EA has a lot of ammo already. Their lawyers have basically been using the evidence that Chaos Edge has been building up over the past year or so in their legal briefs already (which I find rather funny. It's like the Gamers are helping the evil empire bend over the Westboro Baptist church.

You know you are not helping the good guys, but the little sh**s are just soooo annoying.

Hope he loses. I really do.

I'm not entirely clued up on his history (I read that website about him, but that was about it), but everything I've seen points to him being nothing short of a complete prick.

*pops some popcorn*

This is gonna be good. I hope that once his trademarks have been voided he has to pay back all the money he won from other companies infringing on the "edge" name.

Honestly? In a sane world, EA will get what they want after about ten minutes in court. However, I can't help but feel the worm will wriggle out of EA's stomping boots.

Edge is a word, he thinks he can sue anyone who uses that word in the name of anything they make? Bullshit.

I never liked EA, but lately they've been doing more good than harm, keep it up by giving this guy what he deserves!

Five years ago I'd never have figured I'd be supporting Electronic Arts in a legal battle, but here we are now. EA has shaped up quite well in the last couple of years, and are actually one of my favorite publishers these days.

Still... even if they weren't, I'd still be supporting them on this matter.

Then make a prequel called Stone Edge.

(Punning for the win!)
