The fact EA was ever named 'worst company' is just stupid. They are far from the worst. That fact a VIDEO GAME COMPANY beat out businesses and banks that are doing real harm to peoples lively hood is just sad.
I know people have said this an endless amount of times, and I know that my reply has been repeated as many times...yet still there's always someone who makes a complaint like this.

Lunar, the golden poo isn't there because they're evil, not because they are greedy assholes. It's because WHILE being so blatently dirty...they're ALSO dumb as shit, inept performers, doofus extraordinaires. It's the "How do you dumbasses even BREATHE while pulling this shit?" award. Besides, there's endless allegations and legalities to throw at the serious ones.
Still smacks of '1st world problems' to me, not to mention a stunning lack of awareness.

I mean we talking about a video game company beating company's that pretty much CAUSED (or at the very least helped it a long) the economic recession we're still trying to recover from.

but eh, I won't be surprised when they win a third time. It's kind of what happens when you hold polls like these on the internet.....

Well, it IS a first-world problem. It's a 'Worst Company in the US' award. It's held only IN the first world, right?

This is pretty funny because earlier I was playing Fifa 13 and found a bug that stops you from completing tournaments. The bug has apparently been there since launch 2 fucking years ago.

Oh and their servers keep disconnecting me after every game, so I have to exit to the main menu (which takes painfully long to do so) just to reconnect which takes all of a couple of seconds after 1 button press.

And I've heard people complaining about the exact same problem in Fifa 14! I wouldn't be surprised to hear about it persisting into Fifa 15 too. And I doubt they'll actually delay one of the biggest (if not, THE BIGGEST) cash cows they have.

This whole concept of the industry hiding everything until the very last moment is an outdated way to make games.
Is that why they didn't give out review copies? Guess EA is outdated.

Talk is cheap. I don't believe the people who have their actual hands on creating the game would make the same choices that most gamers have issues with. It starts at the top, the people who have no love for games passing down ideas to take shortcuts or ways to suck more money from the user (I'm looking at you, mobile games).

EA said it would try and fix itself after the Simcity release. I have not seen much progress except for a better refund policy/removal of online pass. Nothing about the games themselves.

"Pushing the boundaries", huh?
Well now...

Really though, there's nothing new here. More bollocks EA PR and no actual actions being taken to remedy their piss poor reputation. At this point, they're not fooling any one.

I fully support this sentiment. But now, if they keep up the stupid anyway, EA will have completely lost my faith.

Don't disappoint me, EA. I want to like you, but you're just too disconnected from us gamers.

EA in my mind is full on insane as a whole. By definition insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. That is EA in a nutshell. They go through this BS song and dance every once and a while and the results are always the same.

I... won't be holding my breath for change at EA. But there's a glimmer of hope. Misguided maybe, but I'd like to believe there's a chance EA might stop ruining the games I used to love.

Yeah, but then again they did just release Sims 4, a game with significantly less content than it's predecessor(at launch! let's not even talk about the expansions) and a game which promises 20 more expansions for a total price of 500$... hey I could buy a console for that.. so, no, pass, more action and less words, Andrew. We've all heard this same nonsense a hundred times before.
Just bought Sims 3. The expansions are way overpriced for as little as they give you; which IMO have the max value of $5, seeing as they're digital. It's still the most moddable game series ever; as long as they don't take that away. & even after years of patches, it has a notoriously terrible framerate.

Trust - Takes years to build and seconds to shatter.

EA... you have years and Years and YEARS to go.

... we remember. And we are watching.

Nice of you to try and improve, EA, but you'll have to forgive me if I think your promises are...well...I'll just let the peasants say it.

"Men are men, vows are words, and words are wind."

First you actually have do something to back up those words and I'm not holding my breath. That response to Dungeon Keeper Mobile alone shows just how weaselly and disingenuous they are about keeping that vow.

We'd all like a lot of things, EA.

And I want to go to Disneyland, but unless I have a rich uncle I don't know of, that ain't gonna happen.
Show, don't tell, EA, show, don't tell.

To little, to late. I do not believe for a second that anything out of the EA camp is spoken with genuine regret or remorse for the nonsense they have pulled on us gamers. They will not see any further monies from me again. I would rather give up gaming than enrich them further.

Hey, at least they did rework Origin and include stuff like money back, which friggin' Valve still hasn't gotten around to with Steam, continuing to be in violation of consumer protections in Europe. Who knows what'll come of all that, but for some reason Valve is so beloved that few people care. I'm not a fan of EA, but are they at least improving? Very much so.
Plus, the title of "worst US company" seems really over-exaggerated when you have private military contractors killing people for money, oil companies sucking subsidies out of taxpayers while lobbying to lower environmental restrictions, banks pushing for a continued lack of regulations that ensure the next economic crash is on the way and so on. Even back then I was very weirded out by the idea of EA as the "worst".

A part of their problem lies with their Board of Directors [http://investors.ea.com/directors.cfm]. You know, the suits above the CEO that dictate where the company goes? I did a quick bit of googlingresearch and took a look at their board.

Out of nine members, only 2 had spent ANY tine in the game industry, one of them being the CEO (Who does not head the board) and another person. The company is being guided by people that have no clue what the difference is between the consoles or even how to use them. Since the shareholders have seen their shares increasing in price for the past year or so, odds are they like this board too (Although they'd likely want the prices from back in 2006/07; company is still in its former shadow) and won't mix it up a lot.

By your definition, I don't see how they beat out Comcast or Time Warner Cable. As much as you may want to bash EA, the fact is you still have a choice to by the games or not. With Comcast you're basically beholden to them for many services (some areas have more options than others, but even than it's with companies just as bad) like cable and high speed Internet. Their customer service is 10x worse than EA and make much more money of dirty or shady practices.

But, EA wins b/c the Sim can't go swimming....

Ah, well, Warner is too recent on the polls to really count them, and Comcast is not a bunch of idiots but very insideous. Also, I know 'don't by the game'. I don't. I do, however, sympathize with the people who are angry and support their feelings on the matter.

I always found it amusing how EA got named "Worst Company in America" the same year the federal government fined HSBC for laundering money for Iran and drug cartels.

Right now there's a group of mid level executive huddled up in a board room hoping that Kotaku / Gawker continues their steady stream of literally publicly peeing on their readership while taking a dump on their advertisers, like they're making a German skat porno.
