It's amazing how some developers are so keen on being stupid. If this game is constant DRM I'm just not going to buy it because of how some morons actions can affect your world tendency.

It's not always on DRM, I'm sure just as the first game it will automatically connect you to the games servers, but if you do not have a connection it'll just log you into the game normally with no multiplayer benefits.

It's the same as Demon's Souls. The multiplayer aspect is integrated into the single player. You can play the game prefectly fine offline.

I don't think it's about punishment so much, to be honest. I would say that they are simply doing this as a means to advertise the game. I'm sure there are people playing it before they are allowed to, but I wouldn't call this DRM. This is like a gift to a hardcore player. Black phantoms are easy if you know how to play your character.

On one hand, these phantoms are fuckin' awesome. On the other hand, they worry me. If these phantoms are going to appear from the get-go, until I get online to verify that my copy is legitimate or something like that, then I and totally, utterly, and completely fucked. My internet's not powerful enough to freaking update my PS3, so I can't sign in PSN as a result. And if these phantoms are going to appear until I sign into PSN, I'm going to have to wait a very, very long time before I'm allowed to play Dark Souls.

Edit: Did I misunderstand? After reading a bit more, I'm under the impression that these phantoms are actually the devs invading these early players with super powerful characters. In that case, I'm going to be safe, right?

Just so ya know, black phantoms can't follow you into boss room. :s Soon as you step through the fog into the boss's chamber, the black phantom is booted back into their own world. Unless you're referring to the two Great Club BP's that appear in 2-2. In which case, get them to follow you, and simply activate the elevator and go up before they get on it. They'll kill themselves for you.
