I can't honestly say that EA are a great company, but I can honestly say that Ubisoft Support is quite emphatically and significantly worse than EA Help. That doesn't make EA Help look good in the grand scheme of things, but it puts into perspective that it could be worse.
Also, I've recently had a case with EA Help that was "resolved" by them apologising for their inability to fix the problem, and offering me a free game as compensation.
They didn't say, "we'll give you this game and call it even" and throw something irrelevant to my interests at me. They checked out my registered titles that I have linked to my account, and gave me 4 games to choose from.
I say "4 games" but it was actually 3 individual games, and a boxed set of 3 games. So I went with "Thanks for the entire Mass Effect Trilogy. Been meaning to pick them up for a while, but never got around to it".
And yes, Dead Space 2 was also on their list, because I had the original game listed as something I own (although, thanks to my girlfriend panicking when I try playing it - EVEN WHEN SHE'S ASLEEP - I still have yet to finish the game). So that was a nice touch.
I'm hoping - HOPING, not expecting - that they offer a choice of games, and that the choice includes a reasonable number of options, and that, like in my case, they personalise things for each individual, so they aren't (for example), suggesting that someone who's only ever bought EA Sports titles other than Sim City should pick up Dead Space, or that someone with no non-shooter games other than Sim City would really love to play a 2-year-old FIFA game (because you totally need to go back a few games to follow the story).
I'm definitely expecting the "choice" part, but I think they're more likely to offer a range of very different games instead of personalising it for each individual.
Also, with regards to the complaint that I had with them in the first place, I hope one of the games they offer is Syndicate, and I hope a TON of people pick it up, and I hope that there are a LOT of follow-up complaints to EA Help that get EA to actually go back and make Starbreeze sort out the problems with that game. Even though it's likely to only see a fix for the PC version, and I'm on PS3, I hope this happens, because unlike many PC gamers, my copy is at least mostly playable.
And yes, I'm still confident that, after taking almost 11 months before they gave me a straight answer to "will you fix this problem?" and answering that they wouldn't, they're still doing MUCH better than Ubisoft Support, with whom I've had multiple dealings and absolutely nothing has even come close to producing a resolution or even something that resembles an effort on their part... With several cases lasting more than 2 years, and one which is 2 years of trying to get an answer out of them about something they should have known the answer to more than a year prior to me asking them for it.
