Anyone else run into the same problem i have.
So im playing a game or watching a movie (read Dead Space, Fear, Ju-on)and the atmosfere works so well I cant take more than a few moments because I work myself into sutch a frenzied paranoia that I get a heart attack when a door closes.

Ju-on took me 2 days to finish watching. I havent finished Fear. And last time i played Dead space i walked 100 meters before closing the game for fear of my heart bursting out of my chest.

Anyone else run into this kind of problem? Or do i just have a morbid imagination?

Yepppp, I do get this. When I was younger, if I played a scary game, I couldn't go upstairs or downstairs if no one else was there....

I don't... things like movies and games don't really scare me, cause they can't do anything to me. Sure sometimes i'll psych myself out and get a little paranoid at times

Edited for clarity. That aside I had a similar problem with Dead Space on my first playthrough, thought it was only towards the end and I had been playing in the dark fo0r several hours so it think it's understanderble.

I've never been scared of a movie or game, but I do have a phobia of eye-trauma or even anything touching an eye will make me shudder and hide my eyes. So Evil Dead did so and Un chien andalou.

Uggghhhhh Un Chien Andalou. Damn that eyeball slicing scene.

Yep I do the exact same thing. From my computer to my bed is about 10m so I sprint blindly all the way until I crash into the bed and throw the covers on. I did get a tad scared at the start of Bioshock but the effect died after awhile. I watched my brother play F.E.A.R. late at night and got nightmares. And I always seem to check the ceiling in the toilet. You never know what is lurking up there.

When I was younger I could be like that too to some extent, though admittedly most of what passes for horror (Eastern Or Western) doesn't phase me much. Also as you get older you become more jaded and it becomes progressively harder to find something that can shock you.

Whenever I saw "The Shining" and I saw that scene with the dead lady in the bathtub, I would'nt shower for 2 weeks. Even when I went into the bathroom to take a leak, I would always jerk the bath curtain over to the side to make sure I had my eyes on the bathtub at all times.

Scared, not really. I see things a bit differently being a horror writer myself (unpublished, ok, thanks). But I do get easily drawn into the story and the atmosphere if it's good.

all the time, which is a shame for some of the horror games have an brilliant story and is overall great games, but i have to wait for the graphic to be hilariously outdated before i can play whit out having an heart attack.

I can usually keep my emotions in check during horror movies and games, but there are random times (I think I have to be in a certain mood) when I'll react to the slightest provocation.

I've seen/played too much horror entertainment to be scared by much anymore. I'm always thrilled when something does manage to creep me out - I really appreciate it.

Oddly, though, I'm far easier to scare when I'm under the weather. I've never been able to figure out why.

Just reading that scene in the book was enough to make me keep the shower curtain open at all times I wasn't actually in the tub. Even over at friend's houses I had to really quietly open their curtain before I could pee and then really quietly shut it again before I left.

That lasted exactly as long as it took for my shower curtain to get mildew from being open and bunched up all the time.

I wish I got scared really easily, but the thing is I really don't. I love horror and being scared is one of the only thrills I shoot for, but it is just too rare for me :(.

I try and laugh in the face of danger.
It works for me, especially during Halloween Horror Nights.

Yes, I do. But only when playing myself. Condemned scared the hell out of me.

On another point, the buckets in Condemned make really good bucket noises.

I never really got scared from games. About the only time I can remember is when I was a kid, and I had a nightmare from playing Hexen. Hell, I could play Timeslaughter [http://www.bloodlustsoftware.com/timeslaughter.html] as a ten-year-old without batting an eyelid. Films used to scare me more, because you can't control a film, but that stopped eventually.
