What the hell are you talking about? That scene in King Kong was downright EPIC. The ant scene from the Crystal Skull was pretty gnarly though.

Meh I once had an acid trip of being devoured by four legged red pincher bugs.

ever since after that I can't watch any scenes in a movie about bug devouring or I freak out.

The only scenes that come to mind are the scarab scenes in the Mummy movies. What's really messed up is that I've seen a fraction of what carnivorous bugs can do in real life. My dad had a decent chunk eaten out of his back by a spider.

OH! Men in Black 1!
Remember that huge roach? That thing scared the mess out of me when I was six.

Well bug eating deaths minimise blood so you can put them in a PG13 film. They're suitably horrific without the gore so they're fairly effective. I'm not bothered about it either way. The one in the mummy where there's the lump and the screaming is pretty horrible, but generally they're just a cheap weapon.

So, how do you feel about these scenes? Are they a wonderful new addition to the Action genre? Have I missed a movie with a well made eaten-by-bugs scene that all of these movies are copying?
Nnnno. They are utterly pointless and disgusting. The one in King Kong had me nauseous and thoroughly grossed out. Thanks for reminding me. x) I suppose it is a common element because they want to add the bizarre feeling it purveys to the movie. I can see why they would want that, but I wish they would abstain. I don't want my action or adventure movies to be bizarre or gross.

The one in King Kong was horrific and still creeps me out thinking about it, even though I've only seen it once (for that precise reason). There was also a scene in this horror film called 'They Nest' where there's cockroaches laying their eggs inside people by paralysing them (i.e. the person knows what's happening), and crawling down inside their throats. There's one bit where a guy's trapped in a cellar by thousands of them, gets paralysed, and this giant slug thing slowly works its way along his torso (he's lying down) in down his throat, and he can see it doing it. That was horrible to watch :S

By the Emperor! Bless this flamer and pass the promethium!

If you're ever having bug-induced shudders, just imagine killing them with a flamethrower. Chemical throwers, acid weapons, explosives and so on are also acceptable.

I liked the scene in The Mummy were this guy gets eaten by those bugs (I know they are some sort of scarabs).

I don't really like those scenes but they are enjoyable sometimes.
The Mummy made that scene hilariously gruesome...the director did a good job.

Oh man, that scene from King Kong scarred me for life. I'm one of those people that hates bugs, so giant ones scare the crap out of me. *shudders*
Agreed completely. Any UK Escapists here who watch Primeval on Saturdays on ITV1? Did any of you see the episode two weeks ago where they went through the future anomaly? Those bugs were horrible, especially the giant maggots. It took me about three hours to watch it on ITV Player on the website (partly because I had the dinner cooking as well, partly because I kept leaving the room to recover during every commercial break).
