Also people who think screamo is the same as post hardcore, or people who just think that anything with screaming in it is automatically screamo.

Oh, wow; what age is your auntie? I was always under the impression that Finland was always generally very accepting towards the fairer sex from what I've read. Would love to visit some day.OniaPL said:Snip
A lot of people in Northern Ireland tend to use the term colliquially as a synonym for the word "rude". I haven't the foggiest why. So, I suppose, with your given example in particular, it could be used like that here. I don't tend use the word "ignorant" synonymously with the word "rude", anyroad.robot slipper said:Snip
I know that there is ignorance on both sides of the debate, but I am curious if any particular ignorance annoys you more.Talshere said:Climate Change.
I do a course which focuses quite heavily on climate change and the stupidity of people astounds me.
I've had this explained to me before and I still don't understand how the two are so wildly different that they need to have completely different terms. If anything, it goes to show that sexuality is too ambiguous to fit into rigid terms. Where do you draw the line?Connor Lonske said:Not tech related, but people who think pansexuality is the same as bisexuality(it's not), or those who haven't heard of pansexuality and are like "what" or "that's stupid"

That's a thing in the US i guess? Never heard it here in England, I'd hate that one to catch on here, but everybody I've ever heard say has gotten it right.Aidinthel said:Intensive purposes. That is all. *twitch*
I find that claim hard to believe, if it's for small children and you enjoy it that is wrong.Urgh76 said:One that seems to have an actual affect on me almost daily is the ignorance of people not being able to understand that although a show has been made for small children, if it's extremely well made, we can all enjoy it immensely

That is some successful trolling there, I almost went for it.thaluikhain said:I don't mind intensive purposes, in that I remember much mocking of a guy who said that while trying to impress us with his write wordy skills.
Generally, eh, I could care less.
Oh my Lord. Educate your teacher by making him listen to Jethro Tull; Rainbow; Bob Dylan; Deep Purple; Ritchie Blackmore, etc.! What age is your music teacher? Or nonono; if he wants classics, it's Beethoven and Mozart!Jaeke said:In guitar class my teacher said:
"Its a damn shame they don't play classics anymore on the raido. I used to design pieces for movies and other media and all they want is all the techno and dubstep stuff."
ME-"Damn right. Man i wish people knew their stuff, i don't understand people anymore. They need to play the good stuff."
Teacher-"I know, the good stuff, like Blink 182, Greenday, the classics..."

The attitude of we are all going to die for one. It'll be AT LEAST 100 years before we see any significant sea level rise assuming we get any and we are looking at 1000+ years for the dissolution of the relevant ice masses. Most of THAT rise will actually come from thermal expansion, not melt water. Figures of 100m are bull. IF the FULL East Antarctic Ice sheet melts we will see a maximum of 60 metres ignoring thermal expansion. And people who saying the Arctic ice sheet melting will cause flooding just need to be shot for the good of the human race. Basic physics people, ice displaces its mass when in water....BonGookKumBop said:I know that there is ignorance on both sides of the debate, but I am curious if any particular ignorance annoys you more.Talshere said:Climate Change.

I think people who talk about that are referring to the glaciers covering areas like Greenland.Talshere said:And people who saying the Arctic ice sheet melting will cause flooding just need to be shot for the good of the human race. Basic physics people, ice displaces its mass when in water....
They copied the whole big-eyed thing from Disney. It makes characters look cuter. So yeah, probable one of the most recognizable anime staples has nothing to do with anime.thaluikhain said:I remember reading an article about something like that, why Asian cartoon characters don't look Asian to Western audiences.Queen Michael said:That all manga characters have big eyes or that it's strange that Japanese people, with their eyes shaped the way they are, would create characters who look like that. First of all, no person of any race looks even remotely like a big-eyed manga character. Secondly, you know Timmy from Fairly Odd Parents? Or Bart Simpson? They don't look a bit like human beings, but that's not considered strange. So why would Japanese people stick to the photorealistic look all the time?
A basic smiley face is "default male", a female or foreigner is that modified to show non-defaultness. Because Asian stuff about Asians targeted at Asians treat Asians as the default, they don't stick any Asian markers on top.
They worded it rather better than me.

Not everyone lives in your store, not everyone knows the distinction between these things. If someone asked for generic Kleenex or generic Q-Tips I'd be pleased enough at them recognizing that those are brands rather than classes of product, that I'd overlook the fact that to be perfectly accurate they should have asked for generic tissues or cotton swabs.New Troll said:Like the misconception of the term "iPod." I work retail and I swear every single customer either believes iPods are different then MP3 players, or don't even know there's an electronic device called an MP3 player. And even MP3 player is slang! Or really just an obsolete description. Now it's Digital Media Player. An iPod is a brand of MP3 player, just like how Kleenex is a brand of facial tissue and Q-Tip is a brand cotton swab and Coke is a brand of soda. But every day I will get customers asking for "Sony iPods" or "generic iPods." Every single time.
