Elder Scrolls 5 or Fallout 4?

So Bethesda recently announced their development on TES:V - Skyrim, which made a lot of people - including myself - very happy. Though a big fan of the 'TES'-series i cannot help but be a bit apprehensive in my hopes for the game, as I was not that big of a fan of Oblivion.

Anyway, both Fallout 3 and New Vegas (though developed by Obsidian) has seen me clock more hours than I did in Oblivion, and thus I'll ask you; if Bethesda decided to push back a release date for Skyrim in favour of a new Fallout game would you be all yay, or all nay?

Or said in another way; if you had to choose between a 2011 release of a Fallout game or Skyrim, which would you pick and why?

Myself? Well, let's say that either way, Bethesda is developing a new engine for their upcoming game, I'd have to pick Fallout 4. Though I'm looking forward to Skyrim, I've had too big (and good) of an experience with Fallout in recent years to prefer TES.

[sub]Of course this is just speculation in what you'd pick if you had a choice, since we know Bethesda is releasing Skyrim next year (unless it is pushed back). Humour me.[/sub]

Isn't New Vegas really meant to be Fallout 4? Personally, I think I'd rather go for TES, fantasy and swords always really appeal to me more than post apocalyptic stuff, and the Wasteland tends to be a lot more bland to look at than wherever the Elder Scrolls is set at the time.

Not that the skyline of New Vegas wasn't very nice itself.

Skyrim all the way. Loved Fallout 3, but another TES release is so high up my list of things I would prefer were in my room right now that it's endangering the space station.

Even though I'm in the same posotion as you, with Fallout3 and NV having given me many more hours of fun than Oblivion ever did, I still fell my fantasy-RPG needs being more itchy right now. And with new Vegasstill being very "new", there's many hours of fun to come with DLC.

Also, they can iron out some bugs (and god forbid, learn to use the engien)with the next Elderscrolls, before they make the next Fallout :D

Oh, you bastard. How dare you make me choose?
I'm going to have to go with a TES release because I've played Morrowind and Oblivion until the discs melted and we've had two new Fallout releases in two years. A new TES is well overdue.

I'm not really sure, but I think not. At least I think the next time a Fallout game developed by Bethesda is released (unless they intend to keep Obsidian in the loop) it'll bear the title of "4". I've got no sources to back this up, but I think they mentioned in an interview somewhere that New Vegas is not 4.

So are Halo and Killzone. Doesn't mean you can't have a favourite. Why choose? Because choices are essentially what shapes our lives.

I need to flex my spell casting muscles again. My custom spell tinkering urge is rising to see what shit mages can do with a new engine.

Bring it on, ES5. Bring it on.

A new Elder Scrolls.
We haven't had one in nearly five years, whereas two Fallout games have been released in the last two years.

o_O?

Shape our lives? We're talking about a video game here.

One is fantastical and full of adventure. The other is darkly humorous and full of quirky characters.
'Choices shape our lives' was mostly an ironic statement, due to the nature of the question I posed earlier. On another note, though, if you don't want to answer the question, and haven't got anything constructive to contribute with, in relation to the OP, then why bother posting?

There are bound to be "meaningless" threads on a forum as big as this, and if you think this to be one of them (whether indirectly or otherwise), don't waste your time here. Read on and move on.

ES5, why, because we just got two new Fallouts one of which is a hardly playable buggy mess.

Love Fallout, but I'd go with Elder Scrolls. I loved Oblivion, and I'm tired of seeing a barren wasteland everywhere I go.

We already had Fallout 4. It was called New Vegas, and it was the best thing Bethesda ever put their name on.

So ES 5, then. We should give that franchise a chance to capitalize on some of its tragically unused potential.

I've enjoyed Fallout 3 a lot more than Oblivion. The level-scaling alone basically killed it for me.

I've played only a bit of New Vegas and I'm happy with it as I was with Fallout 3.

OT: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim should be out before Fallout 4. I want to see it fixing everything that was wrong in Oblivion[footnote]Especially that fucking level-scaling[/footnote]. And I don't need another Fallout in a long while as I have New Vegas.
