Arivicon heaved himself up off the bench. He'd been napping, he guessed. The sun was a lot further across the sky than it had been last time he looked. He wandered around the square for a minute, before spotting the others. One of whom was astride a camel.
Into the desert, then. He sighed, and went over.
"Ho there. I seem to have lost track of the time. My apologies." he called to the strange collection.
''Don't worry, you're not the only one.'' Joncis said, getting to his feet while staying in the shade of the city walls. ''We should be heading off now, assuming we can get the other 3 here.''

"This one is glad to see he can still pass unnoticed, even when he doesn't mean to," Dro'Araaj said, walking up next to Joncis, he was surprised the man hadn't noticed him walking around at the back of the procession but it hardly mattered. Well unless the heat or something was getting to their leader, that might be bad.

Arlo and Galahad wandered back to the city gates in silence, Arlo figuring they would meet the rest of the group there. They had gone for cliche thus far, but they didn't look like they just started this adventure. They were either efficient, or had a massive body pile. Remembering one of the leaders, he guessed the first one, or at least hoped. They had bought Galahad some gear, a set of iron armor with a steel short sword. Apparently spellswords loved that sort of gear.
Arlo grunted a greeting, while Galahad remained friendly.
"Hullo, my name is Galahad. Formerly a knight for the Daggerfall Covenant. Glad to be of service." He bowed deeply.

''Good to see you again. I assume this is one of your friends? There is room for more.'' Enthir said, bowing back.

Joncis got up and took a look at Galahad for a minute. That wasn't standard knight armour, he could be lying but it would be an odd choice for a fib. ''What's a knight doing this far south? I thought the covenant were trying to secure the Colovian border?'' he asked in a friendly tone. In all honesty it was refreshing to see another Breton that doesn't have any ulterior motives.

"Well, I was. I got ambushed by a Thalmor patrol whilst scouting, and I made a crappy prisoner, so they made me a slave. And now I'm here..." Galahad smiled sheepishly. His tale wasn't terribly exciting.
"I guess I'll stick with you guys, at least until we go to a friendly nation. Tell me, where are you heading, anyways?"

''Into the desert, boy.'' Endya called over. ''You wouldn't be any good at sharpening daggers would you?''. Joncis looked over to her as to not get involved. ''Ignore her, anyway, glad they didn't execute you. Sorry to disappoint but we're a long way from the coast, and if we can do what we need to do up north then we'll probably be sailing back to Wayrest together. Where are you from?''

Enthir hauled himself onto the camel and checked if everyone was there. ''Alright, let's go. I hope you all brought water!''
He shouted, drinking some out of a flask before patting the camel twice on it's thigh. It moved off at a slow walking pace. Endya picked up her things and followed him north.

"Oh great, an Altmer who looks down on others. Yes, I can sharpen daggers, but frankly, you seem like a bit of a *****, so unless it becomes important I don't think I will." Galahad turned to his fellow Breton.
"I'll gladly ignore her. I'll accompany you until then. Also, why do you have a camel?" Arlo shrugged, following behind Enthir, Galahad quick to catch up to him.

Endya moved alongside Enthir, attempting to grab his attention ''I hope the Breton dies first, honestly we didn't even recuit him''. ''I don't know. He seems eager enough, and we don't have enough recruitment offers to be picky. Admit it, you can have a rather.... vitriolic quality to you at times.'' He said back, staring ahead and away from her to see if he could spot anything in the sandy wasteland. ''At times?'' she said accusingly, ''At most times. Besides he was a slave for a good while now, by default he'll be skeptical of you'' Enthir told her smugly.

Joncis followed the group, catching up with Galahad, ''We don't have a camel. Enthir does, he spent 200 drakes on the thing. Unless he plans on keeping it as a novelty I don't see what use it'll be outside of the desert''.

"Dinner?" Croaker suggested, his old smartass streak taking over, "Hmm... is everyone here now? I have to confess that I am eager to get underway."

"How have you kept your tongue this long? Mouthy slaves tend to lose theirs quite early." Arivicon asked with a sardonic smile.
Then he took a step back. "A knight? From where do you hail, Sir?" His courtly manners, even after years, took over. His father was a truly minor nobleman. Had he mouthed off to a knight above himself? It would end badly for his father- Arivicon shook his head. His family was of no concern to him now.

"I was very new" Galahad smiled. An altmer he could potentially like was a good thing to have in any adventuring party.
"High Rock, though I spent a few months in Orsinium before going to the Colovion borders. I think I prefer the orcs."

Arivicon sighed.
"Yes, of course from High Rock. Aetherius forbid the Orcs learn to train knights. They'd rule Tamriel in a week. I meant what city you hailed from. I am of noble birth in High Rock myself, though somewhat... Dispossessed." Arivicon grinned. He'd willfully abdicated his nobility, but he still occasionally missed it.

"Oh, sorry. I mishear things often. I hail from Farrun, son of Lord Andre, brother to the king. Pleased to make your acquaintance." Galahad bowed again. Arlo caught the last part, quickly turning around.
"You're royalty?"
"No, my father gave up his claim. He was in charge of he Merchants, before he was killed in a duel. Can we talk about someone else's life, please?"

Arivicon bowed. "My abdicated prince." he said, with only an edge of sarcasm. "I, and my lord father, hail from Northpoint. Minor noblemen in the city, with an estate hardly worth mentioning. Peanuts, to a prince."

"I like peanuts.... Er, my princehood is in name only, I haven't earned the position nor am I eligible for becoming a king, unless a LOT of heirs and bastards die. Then maybe." Galahad shrugged.
"Also, we seem to be getting funny looks from the guards. Should we start moving soon, or what?" Arlo piped up again,
"Yeah, we should get going soon, or stay in town for the night."

Arivicon shrugged. "Looking at our leadership, I doubt having to cut our way out of cities will be unusual." He sighed.

He'd had a captain like the breton whelp, the mage. Fit to burst with arrogance with not a lick of sense. The Cyrodiilic seemed okay, and the Altmer was of the specific kind that begged for a slashed throat every time they spoke.

I have the most annoying kinsmen, on both sides of my family.

"There a reason you're staring at me, Endya?" Croaker said in an even tone, raising an eyebrow at her, if not for his glasses, he'd be making direct eye-contact with her right now. He tried to read her face, but couldn't work anything out, so he switched to his default friendly tone, "Oh, never mind me," he smiled at her, "You just reminded me of someone I knew once."

"Wayrest, eh? I know a few from Daggerfall that might gut you for your lack of shame." Galahad smiled, continuing.
"But, I suppose it has its' charms. Like being the capital. And the highlanders! Gods, they are entertaining." Galahad stared into the sky, remembering the few arena fights he had been to. They were usually pretty short, but damn could they be entertaining.
"Ahem, anyways." Arlo began, "We should start moving, sooner rather than later." Arlo glanced at the camel,
"Shall we have that carry our things?"

A few hours later the group were further north and were now firmly in the desert. The baking heat faded as the sun began to set beneath the yellow horizon.

''We'll need to set up camp soon. It gets cold at night in the desert'' Joncis said, ''Hold on, what's that over there?''

In the distance they could see smoke-- a fire.
After a few minutes of walking towards it they could see what it was: About 10 Khajiit of various shapes and sizes were huddled around a campfire. From the looks of it they were travellers, they had an elephant which carried several boxes strapped to its sides which was sitting near what appeared to be the group's leader.

Enthir approached the group first as the leader stood up to greet him (as did his comrades) while the rest of Enthir's group hung behind. ''Greetings human, what brings you out here?'' His voice was kind and welcoming, like that of a shopkeeper trying to sell you something. ''I could ask you the same!'' He said back, thankful that the caravan wasn't hostile. ''We're going up north. Started at Dar'Hraln, you wouldn't know it. Where some sense danger, we sense... opportunity.''
''More like deathwish.'' Endya said quietly to herself.

''There's room for more, if you'd like we could do with the extra company'' the Khajiit asked them.

''We wouldn't mind.'' Enthir said back, motioning his camel take a step forward. The Khajiit stopped him there ''Stop. Before you all can go any further, we need ...........something in return'' he said slyly. ''Such as?'' Joncis asked, stepping over to where Enthir was. ''Well we're sharing our light, warmth and company. Your camel should suffice.'' He said bluntly. Enthir patted his camel and looked over at the cat ''As much as the bargain tempts me, I think I'll have to decline on behalf of my company'' he said back bluntly.

''Oh, I see..... shame.''The Khajiit flicked his wrist twice and the his group pulled out their weapons. Mainly daggers and blades, with an archer thrown in. The quadrupal Khajiit merely hissed and prepared to charge, showing their sharp teeth while doing so.
On top of the elephant was another Khajiit, one that appeared to be a small housecat. It pulled out a miniature staff of sorts. Surely it wasn't a mage?

''Such a pity we couldn't sort this out like gentle folk but out here we have a low stock of supplies even at the best of times, and while this is far from the safest approach, I see some.... opportunity in your cargo.'' He finished, pulling out a scimitar and motioning with his wrist again for his friends to attack.

First were the arrows. Enthir ducked the first and as he trying to get off it an arrow hit his camel, making it moan and crash to the ground, trapping Enthir's leg underneath it.
Endya threw a few daggers, only one hitting it's target before being forced to get to cover near the dying camel to help Enthir up.

Apparently the housecat really was carrying a staff, as a bolt of red fire came hurdling towards the group, Joncis put up a ward and held it there. ''This ward won't stop arrows or swords, take out the archer!'' he shouted, kneeling down as the closest thing to cover in the desert were a few sand dunes out of his reach.
