Elder Scrolls Playing Style?

I played originally headless chicken

then i got my head together and went with Blade, Block, Light Armour, Illusion, Conjuration, Alteration, Sneak. Oblivion-wise

Choose this arrangement to do a "perfect" levelling system. All ATB at 100 before really getting on with the game

My highest level character was Illusion. Basically just Master Illusion.

Using invisibility to sneak up to someone, paralyzing them, then beating them down with my fists as they lay there. If I couldn't paralyze them I'd just sneak past them. It was cowardly but it worked.

I usually do blade, destruction, restoration and marksman.

Though I'm doing it differently this time round on oblivion with conjuration, blunt and alteration

The movie 'Highlander' is how I wind up playing those games. There can be only ONE!
I dream up brilliant schemes of magic combining with weapons into an unbeatable onslaught, but inevitably wind up with a huge sword, 100 in the appropriate skill, and the urge to decapitate overtaking tactical thinking - knowing I can destroy anything at any time. Dull really.
Until the high level Daedra in Oblivion came along. THEN THINGS GOT INTERESTING.

Heavy armour, big fucking swords, fireballs and lightning everywhere.
Also healing magic.

So I guess just like a custom spellwarrior, really.

Summoning the undead and chucking fire at people when that doesn't work.
I normally have quite a good day in the life of my character.

Speed and Strength. I generally go Redguard, light armor, and mix up the combat styles between unarmed and longswords.

I ignore stealth. Too impatient, and I can run away easily if I get into more trouble than I can handle.

For Skyrim I will probably be a stealthy sort of hunter/archer/assassin. I find it the most fun to play, and it takes a bit of patience as well. Also, I like to role play as just a normal person as well, hunting for animals, killing them and then selling the meat for a little bit of cash.

I didn't enjoy Oblivion, and I'll explain why.
People always ranting about how you can do whatever you want in it, and I was intrigued by that. I wanted to be a sneaky assassin/thief, and that started off ok. I joined the thieves guild, and all was good. Then I found out that thieves are shit in combat. And because I wasn't allowed to keep the role-playing aspect by covering my sneaky assassin in armour and giving him a broadsword, it ruined the immersion.
Also, guards somehow always know if you've committed a crime, even if their's no witnesses and it's in the middle of a forest at night. The sneaky bastards.

My main oblivion character has acrobatics, athletics, blades, illusion, sneaking, security, and speechcraft with a focus on speed and agility and the thief as his sign. I keep the other skills leveled up though as a lot of that stuff is surviving a dungeon 101 stuff. I also appreciate how leveling up and leveling skills is kept separate. You actually see progress from doing things related to the skill rather than dumping points in every level like in Fallout 3. I might never use a heavy weapon in that game, but I could have a skill of 100, wtf?

I found recently that playing Oblivion in character is way more fun than playing however you want.

At the moment, I'm a chaotic good spellwarrior (with a lot more emphasis on the 'warrior' bit), and I have mods which turn off the starting waypoints (meaning you have to find each city once for the first time, but then you can fast-travel there whenever you want) and enhance the combat, and it's way more immersive.

I think one of the mistakes that Bethesda made was in not promoting the fact that there are literally hundreds of little secrets hidden around Cyrodiil. The number of dungeons, villages, minor side-quests, epic items, and useless but meaningful little locations is simply vast. Fast travel kind of kills all that.

I try to be as self reliant as possible. With three skills im essentailly a walking town.

1. Restoration: No need to waste money on potions/scrolls.
2. Armourer: No need to waste money on smiths.
3. Enchant: Get magical blades/amulets/whatever anywhere, any time. (*)

Followed by the other skills.
Blade,athletics, acrobatics, security(*), heavy armour, Destruction.

(*)I Only use these skills in Morrowind.

It got to a point when I just sorta did everything, even though I took over the mage's guild without any concept of magic over fireballs and healing.

I learnt later though.

Sniper/Thief with skills in alchemy (I mean, come on, best skill in the game) and conjuration.

Summon a spider daedra to distract people, then pick them off one by one from a distance.

It's the only thing that matters.
