Definitely great games. The distinction that the article doesn't mention is that its games designed to be released alongside a movie that tend to be awful (of course there are exceptions, like Spider-Man 2 and the Two Towers/Return of the King...and Star Wars Racer). The recipe of having a short time to develop, an inflexible deadline, and the constraints of the movie story combine to give you your GI Joes and your Star Treks. But with a property like Rogue Squadron, developed long after the movies release, they have a lot more freedom to develop at their own pace and to work with the story instead of against it.Mcoffey said:Wait a minute; The Rogue Squadron games on the Gamecube were phenomenal, and they were just the events in and around the movies.Andy Chalk said:It's an established fact that the secret to making a great Star Wars game is to steer well clear of the movies.
All in all, good news, although we'll have to see what games we get out of this before we can really start praising or condemning EA.
EDIT: Anyone else play Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter? I genuinely loved that game (SW: Bounty Hunter was solid too...)
