They didn't need to help people exploit it, though.Ldude893 said:Yeah, if you give people access to a CGI doppleganger of a real life celebrity, you're going to best bet that people will exploit it somehow.
It's not an issue of patching it out. People already have access. I doubt they just posted it directly to the internet with not intermediary.CriticalMiss said:I wonder if they are going to patch it out somehow, since the screenshots will just keep showing up until they do.
The descriptions said you follow her through like fifteen years of her life. I'd assume it comes from later.Gearhead mk2 said:Also... how old is Ellen's character in that game? Just looking at that mugshot, she looks like a teenager.
The big issue, evidently, is that this is content that wasn't supposed to exist. I mean, did anyone read the article?Niccolo said:Y'know, as long as the character portrayed is over 18 I don't really see what the big issue is.
She should have expected the studio itself to make anatomically correct versions of her that were unnecessary to the final product but contained, obviously.an annoyed writer said:What did she expect?
Nothing she said really sounded "mad." She even qualified the statement by saying she should probably be flattered.04whim said:I felt a microscopic amount of sympathy for her at first. Then I was reminded that she got mad at Naughty Dog for making a character that looked a little bit like her and yeah, I suddenly don't care.
Watch the movie 'Antichrist'. That will scratch your itch. Permanently.Casual Shinji said:Fuck that! Where's my Willem Dafoe nudity!?
I'm more jaded than anything about it, honestly. Cage has a history of putting nudity in his games, and I simply wasn't surprised about this showing up, since it sounds like something he, as a director, approves, whether the actors/actresses like it or not.Zachary Amaranth said:She should have expected the studio itself to make anatomically correct versions of her that were unnecessary to the final product but contained, obviously.an annoyed writer said:What did she expect?
No, seriously, what about that train of thought strikes you as reasonable. This isn't "Rule 34." This isn't someone making a nude patch or adding textures to a scene. This was done in-house.
Someone might have pointed this out already, but I felt like interjecting my knowlege of Mass Effect trivia for very little reason. That's exactly what they did for the romance scenes in ME1, in addition to tastful camera angles (nothing important showing). Although jury's out on whether that was to avoid this sort of thing, or just because they didn't wan't to bother making a fully detailed nude model for a 15 second scene (not to mention that it would have to be dynamic because Shepard's skin color can change). Either way, better option.thaluikhain said:Why would you render her bits if you aren't going to show them? Wouldn't it have been much easier to make her look like a Barbie doll?
No, I thought I'd just comment on a story like a dipshit. Of course I read it. And since Quantic Dream didn't scan her naked body into the game without her consent, I don't see what the big deal is. Yes, there's possibly a 'no unauthorised nudity of me' clause in Ellen's contract, but the whole thing can only really be accessed with a developer console. Quantic Dream has a history of pulling this kind of crap, contractually bound to not do this or whatever, so honestly I find myself thinking "it's just some boobs, give it a week and we'll all be talking about something else."Zachary Amaranth said:The big issue, evidently, is that this is content that wasn't supposed to exist. RicoADF said:According to a fellow poster who has looked up the image (I'm at work atm, so wont for obvious reasons), it isn't a full body render just the breasts and body, nothing down below. If thats the case then it's not unusual, it's probably just the character's model with not cloths on, no effort required and since their not showing the parts you can't tell.Lono Shrugged said:In fairness, it would be mighty creepy to find out that a bunch of people who you did some mo cap acting for rendered your nude body to an insane detail. I mean breasts are one thing. Full body nudity without consent is pretty unprofessional at the very least.
If that is indeed the case then someone is making a big deal out of nothing, other than maybe Sony being pissed that their model is stolen (copyright infringement) and to cover their ass just incase. Also this title is misleading.
In that case disregard my previous post, although it is still likely the model you see ingame without cloths on. This isn't that uncommon as models of people on model sites are anatomically correct, so it appears to be standard for models. A quick search on turbosquid etc of people will show lots of 3D male/female models that are correct, with and without cloths.Lono Shrugged said:No I just checked it out, they rendered her ladyparts with pubes and all. (Thanks for obligating me to actually do that by the way.)
And wow it is actually quite detailed and realistic, creepy. I do agree totally it is Sony covering their ass as they are probably rubbing their hands with glee at the free Ellen Page naked press this is getting.
This has nothing to do with sex in gaming and everything to do with "Oh, you goddamned pervs, what the bloody hell".Me55enger said:I would suggest there is going to be a cover up but clearly they're not very good at them.
Still, another notch on the bedpost for the lumbering hulk that is the sex question in gaming.
