Enough with the Zombies!

I think we should make a few movies with ghouls (in some mythology they can shape-shift and steal memories)
and maybe Windigos should become more main-stream.

Wendigos bring back the old days of watching Charmed all the time. Damn that was a good show. Lets get some more things out of that show into video games.... come to think of it, i'm surprised that show never got a video game.

EDIT: dammit, i need to start Googling these things. turns out there was a mobile game that tied in with the fourth season. but I don't consider mobile gaming as legit, so this needs a REAL game.

I was thinking about this [far too much] today. Like pirates and ninjas, zombies are a fad that's being drawn-out and over-done. They've lost all meaning and significance, and on a personal note, I'm way beyond sick of them (seriously, how many "How do you survive the zombie apocalypse?" threads have there been this year?).

It makes me wonder what's next, though... Vikings? Mad scientists? Nature show hosts?

well what else is there for games?
Nazis have already been in this situation 5-10 years ago and going back to them would be a step backwards, mummies are basically egyptian ruler zombies, terrorists are controversial, Twilight has scarred vampires and werewolves so they're out of the picture until someone kills stephenie meyer and everything else would fall into the 'not popular enough for mainstream' catagory.
P.S. Yes there are aliens but they are already going through the process
Though if it were up to me I'd make the standard challenge enemies to be overly patriotic North Koreans and instead of Killing hitler, kill kim jong il(somebody HAS to make a wolfenstein mod based off this) and let South Korea take over and make one big korea

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but I can think of maybe 5 Zombie games. And recent Zombie movies? Zombieland and dead snow. Sure, it's a popular meme, but still...

I totally agree with you that it has gone a little overboard, however, I am going to say that the ones who do it well can make an amazing game/film etc. I say this as two of my favourite games are L4D1 and 2 and I think these are really well made. But I agree that games add them for no reason and I don't think they should

Relax it's just the latest fad in pop culture. The Last one was Vampires and the ones before that were werewolves. I bet the next one will be ghosts

Didn't we have that around the "casper the friendly ghost" era? Or maybe it was a kid thing...
It'll end up being romantic smooshy mix with weird stuff certainly. Androids? Mutants? The Japanese have a few corners covered themelves. Tentacles, cat-girls and the suchlike.

Any thoughts on a yeti falling in love with the abominable snowman?
