EPIC MOD WRATH!!!!

So who is your favorite mod here at the Escapist and why? Also in keeping with the title what is the best thing you have ever seen a mod do on a board that isn't the Escapist? (we aren't allowed to discuss punishment the mods give us on this forum)

I don't like to play favourites with mods. They're all good in their own way.

Mods can do good things besides punishment you know. We could discuss the good things mods do here without even bringing punishment into it.

Don't get me wrong, all of the mods are really cool, but I really look up to Aylaine because she's always willing to help people out and is an all around great person.

but yeah for the day pretty much everyone in a group was banned for the day. It was pretty lolzy.

OT: I can't really chose a favorite really. I talk with some a bit and have known some of them before they became mods. But probably Kross for the little prank he did and for that time everyone on the site was banned by accident when upgrading the servers. Anyone else remember that?

A toss up between Ayaline and Susan Arendt.

Ayaline is really nice and fair!

However, Susan was involved in my favorite Escapist memory. Specifically, I got into a scrap with a troll who basically called me a flaming gay for wanting to play Dance Central. He compared it to dancing in a dress in front of a mirror while yelling "I'm a fairy princess!" I tried to say that it just looked fun and didn't pander one way or the other, but he wasn't having any of it.

Then Susan popped by and questioned his sexual security and orientation.

He never did respond after that, and Susan Arednt's "Epic Mod Score" has been permanently boosted.

(Yeah, I know that was from the Escapist, but it was AWESOME, drat it!)

I did that because I have received warning before for discussing why I was punished in the forums and didn't want to accidentally get anyone else in trouble by talking about how "mod x totally overreacted to situation y." That is not the point of this thread. Ass kissing is.

Wilsonscrazybed and Nilcypher (now Logan Westbrook) pretty much had the best mod moment, for me. Nothing will ever beat the "Wilson!!!!" thread. I don't even think I was around when it was created, but it still stands out, to me.

As for the current moderators, Aylaine seems extraordinarily nice, from both reading her posts on the forums and the very few interactions I've had with her on IRC. Nuke is the best guy ever. Baby Tea and LaCoil will always have a place in my heart... I don't really want to pick a favorite...
I'll just go with Ultrajoe, since, as a mod, he was supremely and unequivocally ULTRA.

Speaking as an ex-moderator of other forums, I can tell you that ass-kissing is a bad thing. Rather than ass-kissing I always just preferred it if users did the right thing. Especially annoying was the fact that some users viewed ass-kissing as a way to "build up mod credit" after they did something bad, so that way when they fucked up and did something against the rules yet again they could say "but I did all that ass-kissing before, so it should be okay". Of course it never was and I'd swing the mod wrath three times as hard to teach them that lesson, but having to deal with this type of perception in the fist place was always annoying.

(By the way everyone reading this who has ever experienced mod wrath of any kind should be thankful that I was offered to mod the advice forum here and I turned it down. If I ever got a mod job here people would be lamenting on threads in 6 months time "oh the Escapist was great back in the good old days before BonsaiK hopped on the mod train and started banning people for breathing".)

I suppose I should answer your question, but I can't actually remember things mods have done on other boards, hell, i can't even remember much what I myself did back when I was modding. It's a hard job and it becomes a bit of a blur - if you can remember specific incidences you're probably not doing it right, or you have a photographic memory. You don't need memory anyway, that's what forum histories are for.

Heh mod credit? now that is laughable. The ass kissing thing was a joke. In truth I started this thread because I saw this thread

and thought that what the mod did was both funny and effective. I wondered if there were any other stories out there with situations like this and so created this thread. It's all in good fun Bonsaik.

(Mods are pretty tough on the advice forum as it is. If you are as militant a mod as you claim then... thanks for turning it down)
