Hm hm... some good, many bad.

Let me add "Godzilla" - Blue Oyster Cult. The way a guitar is meant to be played.

Rolling Stones: Sympathy For Fondant The Devil.

The fact it has yet to be mentioned troubles me greatly.

I must also reccomend Rammsteins Morgenstern, Reise Reise, Ohne Dich, Spieluhr, Mutter, Benzin, Rosentrot, Amour, Engel, Du Hast and Mein Teil.

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers: Snow, By The Way, Parralel Universe, Funky Monks, Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Saviour, This Velvet Glove, This is The Place, Charlie, Under The Bridge, Especially in Michigan, Dosed, Tear, Around The World, Otherside, Scar Tissue, Easily and Brandy.

Queens of the Stone Age: The Sky is Falling.

Black Sabbath:Iron Man.

Elgar's Violin Concerto in E Minor.

And one of my favourites: Tom Waits: Hold On.

I've noticed 95% of the people who post in here have no taste in music whatsoever.

DragonForce can fuck right off. A guitarist who can't play any of his solos live and fills the studio recording with MIDI synth, use the same drum beat through almost every song, and also singing an equal amount of songs about either fires, flames, mountains, dragons, or a combination of all four just screams SELL OUT.

Nightwish is just as guilty. Before Tarja left the band, I was a bit interested in the fact there's an opera singer in a metal band. But then an emo-rock drop out joined up and made Nightwish go into the Night and make me Wish the hot opera singer was still in there. So I guess the name Nightwish makes sense!

Mindless Self Indulgence is another group of posers with guitars and synthesizers. It's all just a MIDI, screaming, nonsensical mess.

Tool is an example of how music should be made. Sure, alternative-metal-what-have-you might not appeal to everyone, but when you get to the core of the songs, with all the double meanings of the 90's hits, or the straightforward messages in Lateralus and 10,000 Days, Maynard James Keenan knows how to write lyrics. The art the album covers showcase is equally impressive.

Metallica is also another example of music at its finest. The name might make them sound like angry men who consume alcohol like its water, but that's because they were angry men who drank alcohol like it was water. I say was, because they cleaned up. And it was for the better. Death Magnetic effectively ended their period of SLOW DOWN, WAH-WAH, SMIRINOV IS MY FRIEND. Load, Reload and St. Anger were piles of attempted alternative and nu-metal trash that only appeal to the most loyal of Metallica fans. You should also listen to the album Master of Puppets in its entirety.

More examples of real music include the Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Rush, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Cream, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Deep Purple. And if you don't know any of these bands I suggest you go to your local music store because you have the intelligence of a squirrel.

It is about preference and I have heard most if not all of those songs I was just voicing my opinion that no one cares about.

If you're going to start bringing guitar quality into the picture, then you should probably know that telling someone they played that guitar piece just like Metallica would is an insult that can get you punched by guitarists.

Most of the rest of your post I agree with, however.

Wow, Escapist users have terrible taste in music.

Colors - Between the Buried and Me. The album is 65 minutes long, and plays as one track.

2112 - 2112 - Rush. The title track off of 2112 is over 20 minutes long, and describes a dystopian society.

The Bedlam in Goliath, Frances the Mute - Mars Volta. Two incredible albums by The Mars Volta.

( ) - Sigur Ros. An entirely instrumental album by Icelandic band, Sigur Ros.

Lateralus - Tool. A 1:18:51 epic, by progressive metal band, Tool; culminating in the nine and a half minute title track. A force to be reckoned with.

Also, Dragonforce sucks.

Wings for Mary (both parts) by Tool, a long, beautiful, epic mourning song.
It's "Wings for Marie", asshole.
Careful, that post was awfully trollish.
