Come to think of it, this review made me realize that this who AvP mythos is very similar to the Starcraft plot.
The Hyper-advanced tribalisitc aliens (Protoss/Predator) is at permanent war with a group of semi-intelligent bug-like aliens (Zerg/Aliens) that want to consume and/or mate with them. A bunch of humans get stuck in the middle, and the whole thing blows up.
Anyway, just that.

Sure it's been mentioned, but I got tired of looking five pages in. The reason Predator's are a tribal society with such a high tech level is because it's not their technology. They scavenged it and their society got a massive boostie into space colonization before they had progressed past the tribal society phase.
Lots of good books out there. Just avoid "Hunter's Planet" like the plague. Only source bad enough to get completely retconned. Wretched stuff.
