One of the only video's i have to disagree with, I thought this movie was pretty good, and before i got pretty much got forced to see it, I thought it would be awful.
But i was surprised, Kirsten Stewarts acting was ALOT better in this than in Twilight, To be honest i think them movies gave her a bad name, because she is pretty darn good in this, and of course she looked depressed for most of it, she was
Locked in a fucking tower for most of her life, and after she gets out, is tirelessly chased by a crazed witch would you be happy?!?!
Not to say she was perfect, far from it, but bad? Nuh-uh!
Overall, all the acting in this is quite good, and i quite enjoyed it. Now just to wait for the inevitble sequel (The ending kinda pulls a fast one us -.-)
Btw Bob, Snow-whites true love is the one who brakes the spell from the apple, and guess who brakes it! won't reveal them spoilers but i think you can guess!
Here is what I have come to hate from this generation of fans. I mean, this kind of focus didn't even exist before Twilight came out (there were no "teams" in Harry Potter at first...)
Yes there were, in the since there are "teams" (a better word would be "camps" or "sides") for each love interest in other fiction. Personally I didn't side with anyone or make any assumptions but I was pretty curious who would hook up with who.
Anyway, there was the Green Lantern thing that I thought was going to get referenced, he could've made a joke about that, or, you know, some kind of reference.
While I appreciate what you were trying to do, the character was a huntsman in the Disney movie. Still, I don't know if he was a huntsman or woodsman in the original tale (or if he even existed).
Anyway, the woodsman was from Red Riding Hood, and Tim Burton already gave those characters TB.
Can Kristen Stewart just never get an acting gig again? She's always the most boring part in any movie she's in. Is she supposed to be the blank slate viewers project themselves on to? Because otherwise, I can't really find any reason to cast her when there are plenty of more interesting actresses out there.
The entire problem with this movie is fairly simple. SnowWhite is supposed to be more beautiful/fair then the queen. Kristen Stewart has never been and will never be remotely close to as beautiful as Charlize Theron. So the whole thing makes no sense because the magic mirror's statement that there is one fairer and we see this Snowwhite and go hu?
There should be a scene in the movie when the Queen see's snow white and goes, "That? That is more beautiful then me." Laughs and throws the mirror out the window. And the casting director, and the script writer.
Except that Charlize Theron isn't beautiful in this movie, or when she is it is fading.. YOu guys rip on Stewart, but give her a bit of credit outside of the Twilight movies, see something else she has done, like Adventureland.
FYI, Bob, this was a unusual review, I think you spent 4 minutes discussing what it isn't.
I might see it just because for some reason I love to see people explode into flocks of crows. If I was an evil super villian, I would want that to be my exit.
Well, I'm seeing it anyway, since my girlfriend has made the logical leap of "If my girly movie has lots of swords and magic, maybe my boyfriend will be able to tolerate it," so I hope it's not too bad. I was sort of hoping Ms. Stewart might not be too bad as a lead role, and perhaps the stigma surrounding her was just a result of the movies she's been in thus far, but apparently not. And, at the risk of sounding cruel, I'm really not seeing her as 'the fairest of them all.'
Still, on the plus side, it certainly looks visually interesting, and I have strong suspicions that this is the best deal I'll get as far as a 'date movie' goes (unless someone releases a decent crime flick soon).
Usually, people look at me funny, when I tell them, that I'm rooting for the villains, but in this case, I think 95% of the (movie seeing) population would agree...
I love Charlize but I hate that Twilight *****. Then again, I can watch Charlize in other movies, so I'll just skip this one. Maybe I'll see it on HBO one day.
To be honest I think it's unfair to say Kirsten can't act. I don't know about you, but I only know her from the Twilight series and I can tell you that she channels Bella perfectly i.e., a blank slate with occasional bouts of depression to make you think that you're actually reading aboutan acutal person rather than a passive viewpoint. Bella is the silent protagonist of literature.
An actor should not get flak because the character they're playing is worthless and flat as a board.
I might see it just because for some reason I love to see people explode into flocks of crows. If I was an evil super villian, I would want that to be my exit.
Techincally a group of crows is called a murder or horde of crows, which sounds way cooler. Imagine it, a super villain suddenly explodes into a murder of crows. Other than that, I am with you all the way...
