As allways very informative. And while this comes as no surprise considering that yours is the generation that likes "those" Bond movies, I totaly disagre on the statment that Daniel Craig James Bond has ANYTHING to do with the now tipical Jason Bourne-like action hero. Don't get me wrong even at my young age I've seen most of the James Bond movies, namely all of the Sean Connery ones, around half of the Roger Moore ones, one I think, of the Timothy Dalton one, everything from Pierce Brosnan and Danel Craig, and I love all iterataions in the context of their periods. But the thing is I felt James Bond stagnated during the Pierce Brosnan time, I mean for fuck's sake I didn't know if I was watching James Bond or Ethan Thomas with a better hair-do. Basicly, for me Casino Royale was breath of fresh air and while it took the GOOD from today's "grity and realistic" movies it had a riveting story didn't take the action serious to the point at wich you felt the camera-man was having sesiure and most of all, deep, interesting characters. Sure QoS was a lot less focused on that but the fact that it turned more improbable action-style was to pander to your guard of viewers but still admirablly not giving away the new tone the series found.
Well, that's my opinion.

PS: Also Moonreaker was just fucking stupid.

I actually liked Pierce as Bond. He was a special kind of British classy, which was pretty good most of the time. Daniel Craig made the big turn of what Bond was, but I still like him for his job in Casino Royale.

Totally disagree here. New James Bond kicks ass and when you see one of the Connery flicks today you can't help but notice that it's basically a cheap comedy with a lot of charm.

Daniel Craig reinvigorated the role making it exciting, tense and thrilling after a decline over the 90s. It's not his fault that A Quantum sucked ass, he did all he could with the drivel he was given.

Eva Green is one of the best Bond girls ever, she was absolutely sublime in Casino Royal.

Best Bond ever: Moore
Best Villain: Jaws
Best Bond Girl: Ursula Andress/ Eva
Best song: Live and let die.

Nice video though.

Indeedie - in fact, MovieBob, I condemn you for your unprevoked use of Hilary Clinton. As you see, the results are...to horrible to truly describe:

I have to agree abit. The old Bond just looks silly at best, stupid at worst. Maybe we had to be there.

And I'm shocked by the idea the Bond girls where ever considered ideals for the feminist movement. Seriously, they where useless typically useless - though there was that one Greek one who sniped people...with a crossbow :| :\

love this one Bob, and yes Sean Connery is the GREATEST James Bond.

very interesting to see the culture behind it all, and kinda funny how feminism made a complete 180 over that time period lol

I think the summary of Feminism in this is waaaay to simplistic. Feminism has never been a single-minded, unified movement and any contradictions that seem to occur in feminist ideology largely stem from the fact that feminism is as fragmented as any social movement. The ideas that reach a mainstream audience will be those of the movements most vocal members, not necessarily those of the majority. Besides, the 'sexual liberation' of the Bond Girls has been problematic from the beginning, as are most portrayals of women's sexuality in the media. Why are they problematic? Because for the most part, they are portrayals that are crafted to specifically appeal to the stereotypical hetero male. This is largely why many feminists have a problem with the idea of the Bond Girl. The Bond Girl is not about presenting a liberated, healthy role-model for women. She is, rather, a set of instructions on how to best please a man. Even the name 'Bond Girl' suggests a general lack of respect for the authority and autonomy of women; these are adult women, and yet we call them girls. Please do more research next time, Movie Bob.
Thanks. You saved me the time to write a post like this myself.

But since this is a gaming website we'll most likely fall on deaf ears.

Moore IS better than Dalton, no doubt. But Brosnan...gotta disagree with you, Brosnan brought back Bond to the quip-giving, lady-laying Bond we loved after Dalton's overly serious take on him.

Wow...I'm actually surprised to learn that the feminist movement was ever in favor of the Bond girl mythos. How very edifying, Bob, thank you. :)

For me, to be a true Bond girl, you have to have a silly name. Not as silly as Christmas Jones, mind you, but silly.
Q, I'd like you to meet my new girl friend "Iva Lottatwat".
