Yep. I'm gonna offer my two cents too. Otherwise I wouldn't be living up to my username.
I really liked the first movie. I'll take as much crap as you can give me for that, but at the end of the day, it was stupid, overflowing with human characters we care nothing about, and just a lot of fun. I really liked the designs of the transformers, though everyone else seems to hate them. They were visually interesting, commanding the attention of the audience every time they were on screen. The action sequences were fun, and weren't too cluttered with American flags and explosions like any other Bay movie. It was bad, but enjoyably so.
The second one (I assume) wanted to see what they could get away with while still getting their investment. THEY WENT TOO DAMN FAR. In my opinion, this is the worst movie I've ever watched, and I've seen Human Centipede and The Room. Don't get me wrong, the visuals were great and the actors weren't atrocious, but this movie insulted me to be human, let alone the target audience for this sort of crap. The toilet humor was disgusting, the misogynist undertones felt like overtones, and, from a fanboy aspect, they didn't use a lot of the characters well, like Soundwave, who barely did anything in the THIRD movie, too. I hated everything from John Turturro taking off his pants two inches away from camera to Demolisher's testicles to Wheelie humping Megan Fox's leg to Jetfire farting out a parachute to the twins simply EXISTING to... you know, I have too long a list. I'm going to leave it there. I was disgusted that people were laughing at this movie in the theater I was in. I was appalled that they clapped at the end. The plot had massive holes in it (how did the government cover up the transformers if an ENTIRE CITY WAS DESTROYED BY THEM IN THE FIRST MOVIE?), all the women in the cast were misused (Megan Fox, depicted as a slut, Isabel Lucas, much of the same, Julie White, depicted as a bimbo, Arcee, the only female transformer, got like two lines before DYING), and the whole thing had the humor of a five year old.
Sorry. Bit of a rant there.
Anyway, Dark of the moon was better, if only because they didn't dwell in the immaturity of the second. The best part was the plot twist (which I won't spoil), but even that would have been better (biggest complaint coming in) if the TRANSFORMERS WERE THE STARS OF THEIR OWN MOVIE. The transformers need to be more developed, we can't just live by stereotypes and what other characters say about them.
Also, I really liked Mirage in this one. Don't know who Mirage is? Neither did I until I looked it up because they only say their names once in the beginning at the lowest volume in a Michael Bay movie EVER.
Last complaint: When McDreamy came onscreen, I wanted to leave the theater. WHY IS HE HERE?! THERE'S NO POINT!
Everything Bob hates about this movie I hate, so I won't sound like a broken record. Not as great, in my book, but easily weaker than the first.
Wow, that's a long post. Hope I made this a little interesting to read.
