I know there have to be some people on this site who watch Fox...why do you? Is it for comedic purposes, or do you consider it a legitimate news source?

There's commentary and there's news. Whatever the news anchors and specialists say, Fox News is a NEWS outlet, therefore it reports the news, not preaching the Quran or talking about how to hide child pornography tax reports.
They are biased to the right and they have a really dunb habit of not checking their facts and pulling in specialists that have nothing to do with the case or have little knowledge of it, but they are still a legitimate news Outlet.
Happy?
By the way, I don't use Fox as my major news outlet but I sometimes turn in via satelite to see them covering major events, like... nothing which has something to do with video-games being the uncle of the anti-christ.

I have their iPhone app. I don't like them particularly, but even if they are biased, I'm still going to watch it - just with a massive mountain of salt close at hand.

I don't watch it any more, but I used to watch it for laughs (which tends to devolve into yelling and cursing at the TV). I would however like to point out that there is a difference between FOX and MSNBC, FOX bills itself as a "news network" and claims to be fair and balanced in its coverage, and when their talking heads get called out on their shit, they retreat to the whole "its entertainment, not news" bullshit. MSNBC on the other hand bills itself as a network with a focus on politics and make no claim of balanced commentary.

Fox is as legitimate a news source as MSNBC, CNN, or Pravda. I read and watch as many news shows and newspapers (online) as I can because I hope if I get enough versions of a story I will find something approaching the truth.

However one wonders if the OP actually has a purpose in asking this question (i.e. a quest for knowledge) or if this is just more bullshit. I expect it is the latter but let us see how this goes before I pass judgment.
Alright, I can see where you're coming from with the legitimacy, but why not go to BBC, or some news source that isn't as biased?

Because every news source is biased. The best historian is the one you can identify his bias and then be able to read his writings while ignoring his bias. When you do not know what is his bias, you take everything he writes as truth.

I like Bill O'Rilly. He might be the most honest commentator out there. Note, I did not say completely honest JUST the most honest (Like the most honest thief, or the most honest car sales man.). Now, I am including all media outlets CNN, MSNBC, and FOX. I try to watch CNN and Fox (MSNBC just pisses me off since Rachele Murdock and the FT. Hood attacks, I will not go into details here).

I get news from Fox, CNN, and BBC. Generally confirm important news updates with my own internet inquiries.

If it wasn't obvious before, the reason Fox is on the list is that there is no such thing as an unbiased news source. The best I can manage is to pick two fairly reliable sources from both sides of the primary rift. Even if BBC was completely unbiased, it couldn't give me the detail I need for US affairs.

Brett Baier and Shephard Smith are arguably the best shows in their respective time slots. Also Chris Wallace is good and every now and then Fox and Friends will do something entertaining thats not especially politics related.

Also, and I will stand by this one, Fox News actually gives you a short summary of an news story in the bar at the bottom of the screen, CNN cant seem to grasp that just giving a misleading headline is not enough.

Oh and I will give Fox News credit for one thing, even if most of their anchors are biased as you can get and still be allowed in the media, their shows do at least bring on people with different opinions to let people know there is a debate on the issue instead of doing what CNN does which is present basically one side of the issue and bring in about 2 experts in addition to James Carville. The experts agree with whatever was said and James Carville say something he thinks is funny...and occasionally he say something profound.

I don't watch it as the sole source of truth, but they are pretty decent.

I have to watch them regardless for my Government class anyways. We have current events notes.

I agree with Seekster, at least about the Shephard Simth and Brett Baier part.

Not too sure about that. I remember seeing something about Canada not allowing Fox news start a Canadian branch because it doesn't legally qualify as "news" a few years back. I'd say that MSNBC probably sits in the same category, but CNN is quite a bit above that.

In any case, it is still a source of information and opinion. Nothing wrong with getting more of those.

Living in Australia, most of our news and political commentators tend to not be so blatently bias towards a certain wing of politics. However, I decided (for some awful reason) to watch the Fox News station to see what was happening over in the States, and a show called "The Five" was on and I've never seen such a horrible show in all my life. There were 4 conservatives ganging up on 1 liberal the entire hour it was on. Is this was Fox calls "fair and balanced"? Now, maybe watching 1 hour of Fox isn't long enough to make a fair judgement but the things those people argued about were disgraceful and it made me want to scream at the TV.

I feel sorry for you guys who have to put up with it in your faces everyday of your life. :(

That's because both Canada and the UK has "Fairness Doctrine" similar to what the US had before the mid-80's. Since that doctrine takes the BBC's neutrality at face value every news station operating in those countries is compared to the BBC to determine the fairness of their coverage. As such Fox's right-leaning coverage is not considered fair and balanced by those standards. Hence, not considered a valid news station by the law's definition.

Honestly, the problem most people have with FOX is their commentators, who are notoriously aggressive to the point of belligerence. But, they are also FOX's biggest money maker, so that's not likely to change.

Why? Because I find Red Eye entertaining.

I find it quit a bit funnier than Colbert. But that's likely because I'm right-winged

I watch it because it provides me with entertainment.

They're a comedy station whether they know it or not.
