Scintillating, wasn't it? I'm thinking about adding a pool or dojo. Maybe resurface the drive.
How about a pool in a Dojo, yes?

Sod the drive.
I like the way you think. Project Dojo-Pool is a go. Hovercraft access only. Beware Spike Pits.

I do check profiles if I see a good post. Or wonder what kind of a person (age/gender/nationality) said what...

Actually I look at profiles whenever I feel like it, and that's quite often.

I do

I never look. Details about someone are frankly irrelevant. What matters on a forum, to me, is what they post.
I'm of the same mind. I pay attention to what they posted at that time. An example being that I didn't look at the poster's, who I've just quoted, profile.

About one time a month and the only thing that I have ever look for is country. There are some topic where it helps to understand the persons point of view.

I look at profiles of people if we are having a screaming match, they added me as a friend, or someone messages me. No other real reason to look at a profile since I am not going to look at the profiles of everyone here. No offense guys, I just would like to do something else on the days I post here.

I usually check someone'e profile to find out if they are a guy or girl if it isn't obvious from what they've written, name or avatar. I'll also check to see if I actually know the person or not, I have yet to find one person I know but I still check.

How often do you have a look at someone's profile, it at all?

Do you look because you want to try and find out more about that person, or to find out what stupid idiot is commenting on the forums?

I nearly always look at people's who've quoted me or written something really bloody funny/retarded.

ITT: Do you care for the profiles and stuff?
"Ironically", I only came to this thread cuz I saw it on your recent posts on your profile. I was checking your gender cuz you posted in a sexual thread, in case you were wondering.

I bet for a lot of people, it goes like this:
"*Reads post*
Hrm....
*clicks Profile*

Yep, male/female."

Honestly, I'd kinda like one's sex being displayed along with avatars/usernames. Not necessarily pasted for everyone to see, but perhaps in the drop down one recieves when clicking their username?
You ninja'd my entire post. If it's a romantic or sexual thread I'd like to know what gender people are, and it can also be fun to guess. And I've been complaining about showing gender next to the name for a while. I mean, it is optional.
And of course I check profiles if I'm interested in the person, like if they said something interesting or just shows up a lot. But that's it.
Edit: Oh, and I check nationality a lot too, they should have that in the drop down as well. And birthdays are always interesting when it comes to mature threads.

Only to ever check age, sex and/or location.

Sometimes to see if they have a photo. I like it when people have photos of themselves; It makes the site more personal :)

I check for gender and linked gaming account.

Steam account with recent titles means PC, as they have a PC able to run them. Gamertag means 360. PSN profile means PS3.

Funny FamoFunk, I checked yours today before this thread.

I only do it if I want to find out something about a person, maybe if they said something interesting.

Rarely, I find all I need to know in posts and I'm not that curious about other peoples' ages or sexes or whatever.

Most often I might check it if I see a post that I feel particularly ignorant, as I am trying to see if it is connected to simply being younger.

I have a rather similar view to your own, OP.

I'm more likely to view someone's profile if the thread somehow relates to location, it always makes my day to see other users live in my city. I'm just very curious about everything.

Also, I'll often check a profile if I'm confused about someone's gender though generally, I couldn't care less.

Not really. I don't have much stuff on there. I don't even have my gender, let alone even a inkling of my real name.

I don't have any real friends on here anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Yep, i usually look at some user profiles to check where they come from, their age and sex to contextualize their posts.

The only time I ever look at someone's profile is when I want to send them a private message. For instance if I want to compliment them on their avatar or wish them a happy birthday or something like that.

Sometimes if people make a post containing views ive come to associate with certain stereotypes Ill look on their profile to see if I'll get any clues as to whether my own brand of judgemental disdain has been corroborated

If they leave an interesting post, say something I strongly agree/disagree with, or have a similar interest to me, I may take a quick peek.
