A computer and an internet connection are the only solid requirements.

Recommendations: Intelligence, ability to form sentences properly, legibility, politeness, and a heavy duty flame-shield.
And some of that sticky goo- Actually, I won't go on...

Hey I'm past 500 posts... lolololololollolol I l33t hax0rrr roflmao noob 3v3rywh3r3!

But really, I think if with so many people and so many opinions if you can disagree and state why, then you're more than welcome here. Of course many people don't hold these qualities here. And I agree with this -

Narcissism. Lots and lots of narcissism.
Absolutely, you must be as beautiful and intelligent as me.

If you grabbed most of the veteran posters here and put them through a food processor, you'd have river of liquid pretentiousness.

Are you able to complete one paragraph without making an absolute pillok of yourself? Then welcome to the escapist, friend.
You want to know the greatest thing about your post?

You misspelt "Pillock".
Like I care. Boo hoo you have inadvertantly hurt my feelings, I will now proceed to locate my mother, who you will deem fat, and cry to her.

Sorry :D Just messing.

Also what was the second best thing about my post? I would love to know.

And why are people on the escapist so picky about words? Whenever I do a little review this is especially true. You say "Im gonna walk across this road now" and somebody will say :No it is "I am going to walk across this road now" See? SEE? see how you spell things wrong? YOU DICK! Everything else about the escapist is great, It's just people can become Nazis after a while.

To join The (dare I say; THE BEST WEBSITE IN THE UNIVERSE!) Escapist, what qualities or attributes would be needed. Apart from sophistication and intelligence?
This is just a mediocre website, the only reason people join is because Zero Punctuation. I have a reserve about the professional level of the modearators, and the quality of most of the members. Don't get me wrong there are good moderators and nice members. But this is just another site on the internet as common as a fork.

Ohh and you surely don't need to have sophistication and intelligence to join this website.

Your joking right...? These forums are neither sophisticated nor intelligent...
There has been a bit of a dip in spelling and punctuation standards recently.
Like D_987's "your"?

But there are no requirements to join. There are, although, requirements to stay, and I think Kuliani's made a thread about the requirements somewhere.

I didn't know you needed qualities or special attributes to contribute to a website... I mean, "don't be a troll" isn't really unheard-of advice.

Unless I'm grossly underestimating the IQ of the average Escapist user, that is.
Atleast a 100 or mabie OVER 9000 !

Yeah those are definitely not requirements. There are no requirements aside from having an internet connection.

They can be, which is more than you can say for Youtube and the Steam forums.

Actually that's not really true. I've seen plenty of trolls here who have wayyyy more than 500 posts, for example, the Trinity (Eggo, Kukul, and Cheeze Pavillion when he's on the RP threads). Even the two Darths and Indigo_Dingo, I believe, ended up falling into that trap near the end. Generally, however, people with a lot of posts are more experienced with the mods and never run into any trouble, but occasionally you get some who think they're above the law because of their high post count. Really, quality on the forums is down to the person and whether or not they're mature and sensible enough to not make, or to learn from, their mistakes.
I miss indigo dingo....... I didn't think I would. But theres a hole in my hate bucket which he used to fill, but now....

possibility's is all that matters, and the escapist have a 20% chance of having a intelligent post whit no trolling.

OT: you need to either play allot of games or at least be interested in them, also having firefox with spelling control on should be a requirement.

Since this isn't YouTube, not calling someone profanities based upon sexual orientation.

And some how I'm still here...?

Really, you just need to stay out of religion, political, and any other tinder-filled threads. Don't get in many bad arguments, even though they are acceptable, and just have a good time.

Providing some point to your posts/threads in either an informal, humorous or personal tone (not one word responses basically). Not trolling, flaming or abusing others for any reason is a good one too.

Oh and completely irrelevant to the topic- 1 Year at the Escapist today. *pulls out disco ball and dances*
Then you must have this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_sY2rjxq6M

Yeeeeaaaaaah, nooooo.
It's alright here, at best.

Slowly getting worse as time wears on.
Speaking of getting worse, has anyone else noticed a slight drought of threads? Good ones anyways. I just haven't found anything to latch onto for a while, no interesting threads.

I don't know, I just feel un-interested in many threads now.

Biggest lesson to learn.

If you point fingers, flame or even blame someone for something they said or did...
You will be quoted and then owned, in most cases.

Best way to keep from being owned, do atleast a tiny bit of research before posting and for God sake's, remember that although you may be smart, there are people on here who might be smarter than you.
