Wait, you are:
b)Kukul's second account and thus to be banned.
What I meant was that Kukul could be that "release valve" that Indigo Dingo was.

But, yes, D.

He got banned a while ago. That's what Zeeky-Santos was talking about before now.

A computer?
This. And an internet connection.

EDIT: Them means to communicate with other humans, preferable in the English language, is also a prerequisite.

Plus a keyboard...
And a mouse...
Monitors would help to.

Oh, and you'll need the means to stay alive, so some form of income (in my case benefits) would be very helpful, with that you can buy food, drink, and of course the above mentioned computer components, of course you'll also need to pay for your internet connection to insure access to The Escapist.

A house would come n handy to.

Are you able to complete one paragraph without making an absolute pillok of yourself? Then welcome to the escapist, friend.
You want to know the greatest thing about your post?

You misspelt "Pillock".
Like I care. Boo hoo you have inadvertantly hurt my feelings, I will now proceed to locate my mother, who you will deem fat, and cry to her.

Sorry :D Just messing.

Also what was the second best thing about my post? I would love to know.

And why are people on the escapist so picky about words? Whenever I do a little review this is especially true. You say "Im gonna walk across this road now" and somebody will say :No it is "I am going to walk across this road now" See? SEE? see how you spell things wrong? YOU DICK! Everything else about the escapist is great, It's just people can become Nazis after a while.
Well, the Nazis have some pretty convincing brochures...

I wouldn't have picked you for it otherwise, but it's the fact that you were telling him/her not to screw up & the key word in your post is misspelt.

The second best thing? I love your avatar.
Ah you see I was not actually intending to offend him, I was meaning it as a literal requirement to maintain an account on the escapist. Sorry for the confusion and unnecessary sarcasm. One thing though, Nazis? I would say they are a tad right wing for me. And by a tad I mean way too much. Almost... genocidally?

To join The (dare I say; THE BEST WEBSITE IN THE UNIVERSE!) Escapist, what qualities or attributes would be needed. Apart from sophistication and intelligence?
Your joking right...? These forums are neither sophisticated nor intelligent...
There has been a bit of a dip in spelling and punctuation standards recently.
Like D_987's "your"?

But there are no requirements to join. There are, although, requirements to stay, and I think Kuliani's made a thread about the requirements somewhere.
You really have nothing better to do than comment on the fact that I didn't type "You're"?

There is a fine line between poor spelling and grammar and downright nit-picking, whatever people say these forums have never had perfect spelling and grammar, and to be honest to expect such from a hurriedly typed message on a gaming forum is ridiculous.

Don't be an idiot. And don't act like a pretentious prick as well.
Normally I'd say this, but with the latest influx of trolls and overall idiots, I'll quote the Miller High Light guy. "The Badge of Common Sense only goes to the worthy." You have to be worthy.

Dunno. Being able to type coherently? Being a gamer? Having colourful language?

Well either way I'm in.

They can be, which is more than you can say for Youtube and the Steam forums.
YouTube and the Steam forums make me very sad and angry inside.

Being able to type and having an Internet connection are the only things I can think of.

And maybe not even that, you could get your friend to register for you at HIS house.

No particular qualities are needed to join but to reach the big times, yeah some things are needed.

It really depends on who you hang out with though. The be famous on the IRC you only need to talk a whole lot. The more time you spend "/me (something sexual/cuddly/cute" the better. Do this plenty enough and eventually you will be 'famous'. How well your known on the Escapist doesn't matter on the IRC, there are some people who don't even visit the forums on there I think. Personally I think this a good thing but hey, whatever.

To be big on the forums you have to post a lot. Those posts have to be short, straight to the point and no nonsense. They have to be at the top of the thread so that everyone sees you.
You can also be big by doing something that stays in the minds of others. However this only lasts for a short time and the newcomers aren't going to know about it, eventually your deed will be forgotten by all.

In the RP forum all you need to do is make a couple of good games or play in quite a few games. Simple stuff really.

In truth though, you don't need to be big on the Escapist. If you aspire to be being famous or well liked I think you have a problem. You should just be posting, talking etc for the fun of it. It saddens me when I see people trying to achieve popularity, it's just so stupid.

I'm a little bit upset that people are saying that this forum is 'nothing special'. I find myself agreeing with them while sometime ago I would have disagreed and commented that this forum is a great place to be. I'm not trying to go on a 'The forums are changing' tangent but if people who joined this year are saying it's nothing special while in 08 people were saying that it is the best gaming forum on the net, well something has obviously gone wrong.

All it takes to stick around here is a modicum of sense - you can actually get away with quite a lot here. If you want to gain any respect, well that's a bit more difficult as you have to navigate the treacherous waters of inflamatory threads and hot-button issues without resorting to flames and insults. But, insightful commentary, regular posting and quality text won't get you remembered - for that you need an avatar. I know that I generally recognize avatars before I do a name, so I am forced to wonder yet again why I have never bothered getting one myself.

As I see it, there are two main views to this question of opinion: There are The Escapist fanboys who view it as the greatest website in the world 'evar lol', and the people who are dissappointed in the forums or say that they have decreased in quality etc. I'm neither of these; whilst I don't view The Escapist as the greatest site ever, there are still a lot worse sites that I won't bother to mention. But I will say that quality has slipped a lot in my experience. When it got to a point that a thread about a website called Pimp My Gun can get to fifteen pages whilst a thread about who society percieves as outsiders can only get to two, and when a review solely consisting of ZP fanboyism got more views and posts than most quality length reviews; that was when the penny started to drop for me.

I still view this place as a nice place to be, but it is merely a shadow of its former self.

I wouldn't worry too much about them; they're the ones who make it 'just another gaming forum'.

As I have said numerous times before, the quality of this forum is only as good as we allow it to be. If people put more effort into their posts and actually followed their oft uttered mantra of 'quality over quantity' this could be the best site on the net. As it stands, it is rather unpleasant and immature at times, and because of this I feel less and less welcome each day.

At this stage there are a select few members who keep me here. Most of them know who they are, and while they remain, so will I.
I have to agree with you here, although it will appear rather hypocritical of me to say that.

This doesn't just go for The Escapist; any forum will be the same level of quality as the people who post there. It is those people who keep the site going and also keep the standards of quality up. But more and more recently the quality of posters has severely dropped, which in turn makes those who want to be good posters and put thought into their posts feel alienated and as if the paradise they once had has now dissapeared from them. Most of these posters have had their go at trying to raise the standards -- by making interesting points and putting thought into what they write -- but they still become alienated from the mass and eventually give up, deciding that it is all to no use and leaving The Escapist (sometimes with a rant included). I have noticed this drop in my experience too and (being a user who wants to lean more to the interesting thread discussions nowadays) I am becoming embarrassed by it and am finding a lot less threads that truly tickle my fancy nowadays.

I could probably name a few of those users who keep you here, pi -- off the top of my head: Nuke, RAK, Therumancer and (possibly) Lab and Cheeze -- as they're the same people who keep me here as well. I doubt I could ever fit on that list though, due to the fact that for a long while I was a complete twat and thank God I never truly suffered for that. And whilst I have learned my lesson and am trying more and more to put this into practice, I still have that history hanging around me like massive baggage that I just want to get rid of now, to the point where I have contemplated simply making a new user and starting again anew.
