I had an idea.

What if we were to get together a bunch of people from The Escapist and make a weekly podcast, where we talk about...things? Anecdotes, video games, really anything. Just a weekly, user-run podcast that we can listen to and have fun with.

I don't know exactly what the things we talk about and such will be, but there are an infinite amount of subjects, from tabletop gaming to music to books to TV...Really, the possibilities are endless.

What I'm thinking we'd need now is subject matter for each week(perhaps we can keep it aligned with the actual magazine's subjects?), people to talk, and maybe someone to edit. I'm not sure how well I could edit audio together, but I can definitely do some talking. Well, what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Want to help? Maybe I could even set up a usergroup for this? Let's chat.

Another idea, beyond just a podcast, that I think would be cool, would be an ACTUAL Escapist radio station. If we could find a way to host a shoutcast server or something, we could probably get people constantly streaming music and chatting and such. That would be in the future though. The first step is a podcast like I'm thinking now.

Well, you wouldn't, to a certain extent. Just don't say anything that you wouldn't say on the forums...perhaps even a bit more mild than that. But for the most part there shouldn't be much toning down to do.

I think that would be awesome! getting the escapist community involved in it instead of flying some hot shot guy from LA who is plain and bland!

Plus it would be hilarious, as the escapist has a huge sense of humour and varied so would offer something to everyone.

Provided we could have someone censor the less respectful participants, I think this would be a very cool idea. We could then have interviews with John Funk, Hank or Jed from Doraleous and Associates or even Yahtzee if we could promise him Branston Pickles for doing it.

Thank you very much! Yeah, I think it would be cool to interview people and such. And I think as long as we don't let the language and such get TOO bad, we shouldn't have to censor it. I think interviewing would be possible through Skype or some other such thing, so, yeah, that is a thing. It won't be too hard to figure out. The only potential problem I'm seeing is hosting.

This has been tried several times before with no real success.

Besides, I think you would need staff approval for such an endeavor. I mean, I had to get approval for my TMIF series from Kuliani before I could even make it public.

You'd also need to abide by censorship rules and find ways of assuring regularity with something like this.

Despite something like this, I am more than ready to help in any way possible. If this ends up being the next biggest thing at least I'll be part of it. If not, I lose nothing.
