My first job was working at a local, family owned grocery store. The job was pretty awful, but it got me in the door, some spending money in high school and some experience in the work place. I spend the last eight years doing grocery retail (in three different places) and am finally, officially quitting the retail gig to start my career in law enforcement. I was hired a few weeks ago and start at the end of this month. Excited!

Nightcrew stocking shelves at a grocery store. Shit job, hard on the back and knees, minimal wage, douchbag assistant supervisor. I did it for about 2 months before I quit.

BTW until you work with cardboard all the time, you've no idea now badly it dries out your skin.

Next job was a temp position at a meat packaging plant, I eventually got snuck into working in shipping. At the end of the line. I implore anyone who can work in shipping to do so if the pays the same. It's jokes compared to the rest of the work there, and this applies to any factory like job.

Supermarket Shelf stacker/Till-***** and emergency Home Delivery driver (once I was old enough!)

Unfortunately was there 3 years, and after finishing school did it full time... It was only a stop gap though before I joined the military..

I hated it, although I did meet a girl who I ended up being with 4 and a half years, until 6 months ago in fact! So it wasn't all bad!

First jobs are all about learning how much working can suck, burt also how much having money to spend is ace!

My First job was as a cashier in a local Extra Foods grocery store. Did that for about 2 years before wanting to leave. Then I got asked if I wanted manager training, so I said sure and became an Assistant Manager for a year

Hmmm I'm glad I don't have this experience (i'm currently laying floors and hoping to actually turn it into my career) I'm glad my boss owns his own company and his step son is my crew leader He sets us up almost literally across from the buildings we work in and want us to learn everything as soon as we can. The only thing is that it's so unorganized right now since the majority of the crew is young (21-28) and they have always been rushing since it's Commercial Residential (condo's and the like for those who don't know)

I also like the majority of my crew members, we get along really well and have a few drinks after every shift. The only thing I don't like is that my boss hires almost anyone and there have been a few "duds" that I wish I never would have met. But overall I think my crew is pretty cool.

Honestly out of all the jobs I've had I can easily say that this is the best damn job I've ever had, the only problem is that i'm so far away from my friends and family. But when I get my ticket that problem will be easily rectified

You lucky bastard . I know you can have a good living doing flooring and if I had a boss similar to yours I might still be doing it. Residential jobs are the good gigs, we mostly did businesses which suck. Large rooms, tons of furniture to move, and usually the people who work there watch you and comment negatively on how you are working(at least that's my experiences).

My old boss does own his own business, he just runs it poorly. He would never fire anyone no matter how much or often the f*ck up and never bothered to teach anyone much so if he needed help with something no one could.

I stock shelves at a hardware and even though I make less I'm much happier now.

My first job was working at law enforcement supply store. It was where we sold thing to cops like uniforms, cuffs, even firearms, all while dealing with large orders from this or that police or fire department. It was good experience, since it was kind of a mix of sales and office work, plus I finally learned how to properly fold clothes from fixing up displays; I had apparently been doing it wrong for years.

I was always lazy so never got to any smaller job, first work was programming utility 3D software for one smaller industrial company during summer. Good paid + never left house. I was just starting university back then.

First job was washing dishes in the kitchen at the local pub. Pay was minimum and I often worked late. I ended up being the kitchen worker who had been there the longest because most chefs didn't stay long. They went through 4 head chefs in the year and a half I worked there. Overall it was a good experience but I left because I needed better hours and more money. The job offer at McDs helped too.

Uhh... never had a real job.

Technically I can legally say that I work for my father. I went out on business trips to Indian Reservations to help him. Some tribes have some serious drug problems, so I went down there and took notes for him, and then I'll type up some other notes.

Never had one when I was in High School, because for some reason my parents made me not get one. Sucked, because there was some really promising job openings.

Recently got rejected from a job at Target, didn't even get to the interview process.

I do volunteer work at the Ronald McDonald house for the past 2 years though, and they do seem to like me and consider me a hard worker, so I kinda consider that a job. Thinking about building up the courage to one day ask to be a Night Manager which apparently pays. It's ideal because I love the house, and I'm always up at Night.

I've been helping my Dad out with odd jobs like poly-tunnel construction and shelf-making since I was 14, but that's sporadic. Spent a few weeks in catering a couple of years ago, but that was highly temporary.
