First of all, I'll get right off and say I couldn't give less of a shit about "graphic imagery" on covers. People need to grow up quite a lot. "ZOMFG MY CHILD MIGHT WALK IN FRONT OF THE BOX AND SEE A HAND WITH MISSING FIGNERS AND I MIGHT HAVE TO SPEND A MINUTE TALKING TO HIM/HER! THE HORROR!". That said, even if you do, L4D was marketed with the exact same cover, but with more fingers... OH SHIT! THIS ONE HAS 2 EXTRA FINGERS BITTEN OFF! IT IS SO MUCH MOAR GRAPHICAL AND HORRIBLE! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!! THE CHILDREN!!!Megacherv said:The fact is that graphic imagery shouldn't be seen on the cover i.e. can be seen by everyone, and should be hidden as much as possible. Sure, the V sign would be an okay logo to have in-game, but seeing it in-game requires you to be actually playing it, which young kids shouldn't be.
Alright, can we just calm the fuck down about this? all Valve have to do is get the original L4D logo and get rid of 2 other fingers instead, that's it over and done with. Can people stop making such a hissy-fit about this meaningless crap?
I meant why do the costumer's and/or retailers give a toss. And it shouldn't provide a "recommended" age at all, just a description of the content. Any age "recommended" will always be arbitrary.vivaldiscool said:While I agree with your views on the ESRB, you have to remember it's not laws. The law doesn't prevent the selling of anything to anybody as far as videogames go, The ESRB just provides a list of the content in the game and "recommended" age. If a store won't sell a 16 year old halo or any other M rated game, it's because the store itself has a very specific policy to prevent the soccer mom demographic from coming down on them.
In England giving someone two fingers up is not considered a sign of peace, quite the opposite in fact, it carries the same meaning as the middle finger does in America.Maraveno said:wouldn't it just be a sign of peace?george144 said:See I thought the two fingers up was deliberate, like a great fuck off to the undead hordes, but given Valves American it could just be a coincidence.Kwil said:You're not English.
Anyway.... Jesus-Facepalm
Not even Jesus understands the stupidity in this action
Dude...calm down...and it's more than mildly offensive. It's not the peace sign, the peace sign is showing the palm to the person with those two fingers showing up.Caliostro said:-*insert long boring rant here*-

No, not trolling, I'm trying to get everyone to calm the fuck down over something that's not that big a deal.Caliostro said:Megacherv said:They see me trollin'...
You're right, it's not mildly offensive. It's not even mildly offensive. It's a number 2... Dear god, the horror! You know how it was first used as an insult? By British archers against the french, showing them they still had their "bow fingers" intact. I'm sure the story has been posted several times so if you're interested search.
Also, has stated several times throughout this thread, it wasn't over a mildly-offensive-to-ignorant-people-only-from-the-UK sign, but apparently due to the "percentage" of hand destroyed, which is just as ridiculous. It is something to get worked up about, it's a private organization overstepping it's boundaries.
There is a story behind that, not sure if its true.Malygris said:two-finger gesture is, as far as I know, uniquely English.
