A trilby is just a type of fedora. All this nitpicking about trilbies and fedoras is usually done by fedora wearing atheists who don't want to match the stereotype, even though anyone who knows much about hats knows that 100% of trilbies are fedoras. For someone who's been slightly away from internet culture for awhile, it's kind of nice to know that those sorts of people are rightfully being ridiculed these days, but why on earth would you drag the innocent Fedora into this? It's a perfectly fine fashion accessory on the right head, and might I also add, the majority of hats in those pictures aren't even Fedoras. Those are Trilbys. But not that that would matter; they are both fine hats. Please lets not drag quality felt hats down to the level of internet morons.

A trilby is just a slightly different cut of fedora and I am always mystified by people won't bother to Google their hat and learn this. All trilbies are fedoras, and we make fun of fedoras because they are so hideous, and because they are the #1 hat of the wild internet douchebag.

hmpf, Frank Sinatra could wear a bag and would still look classy and handsome.

People need to remember, a hat, in this case a fedora, is there to complement the outfit, which is usually suits and/or a guy wearing a vest.
Wearing a t-shirt and jeans with a fedora(even though it's always a trilby) ain't gonna do jack shit to help; wear a top hat instead, we need to bring those hats back in style.

That's not saying I mind jokes about stereotypes (when they are funny), I was specifically talking about the hypocrisy of people who complain about stereotypes in videogames and are here laughing it up over this particular one. Any joke has a right to exist. It just comes off to me as: making a character with big boobs is wrong, but let's all laugh at these fat nerds for wearing hats

The characters in question have no choice in how they are portrayed, they are the product of the imagination of their designer. In contrast, nobody forces you to wear a fedora. Also, Fedoras aren't an expression of a belief system that is subject to persecution in the US or anywhere else, they're a kind of hat that looks stupid unless you are Cary Grant (highly unlikely) but somehow seems to make people (without taste) believe that they look classy in it.
Edit: I also make fun of people who wear neckties to T-Shirts, people with mullets and "I <3 my AR-15" shirts, horrible tattoos and Hitler-staches.
