In a way I have to say what was done is really low, but at the same time I can't help but marvel at the hollywood esque design to it.

I mean come on, don't deny that somewhere deep within you, you read about it and think
"Dang, that's some serious spy/assasain stuff going on"
It really sends one on a power trip to think of the intricate planning that goes into something like that, and in a way is very terrorist like. Live amongst a guild for months, get to know the people and make friendships (take a few piloting lessons). Then; BAM! Turn around and stab them in the back for the most damage.

What was done was wrong and very dishonorable....but it was soooo awsome.

Wow, that's actually cool. No they shouldn't be banned...

Bringing spies, politics and such in a MMO is awesome.
Isn't that the idea of an MMO, to create an immersive world that offers the same possibilities as the real world? If you ask me, it shows how well the game works.

Wow, it's like KotOR all over again.

That is interesting, and I wonder what will result from it.

Man I should really be playing this game. I just love all the intrigue, the unpredictability really makes it interesting and exciting.

I read the linked article and a ten month pearl harbor type infiltration and assassination is downright insane! A group of roleplayering EVE players infiltrated a company to grab all of their hangar access codes and even con the company's CEO into flying alone with the trusted spy and get a successful podding just b/c their client wanted the "cold, dead body of the target.

I always thought the guys I knew who played was insane to keep playing but this is both disturbing and awesome at the same time.

Funny that this article actually makes people want to play the game.
still, i dont think this game is anything for me. i like my games plain and simple, no espionage or assasinations involved.

If I remember right, this sort of thing is basically part of the point of EVE. My opinion of the people who rail against this is pretty much "If you don't like it, why are you playing that game? Either quit or suck it up you whiner!"

If we have no antagonists, no real villains to commit actual misdemeanours that actually affect us in a game world then... What reason do we have to try and bring them down? I applaud anybody who plays a "villain" in EVE; they provide so much motivation, and they add more spice to things than I think they ever realize.

If you don't want it to happen... Stand up for yourselves! Do something about it! Stop whining to the admins and work out what YOU can do about it.

EDIT: A friend mentioned this to me. One of the big complaints about MMO's is that little ever changes. The world-dooming megaboss will respawn in two minutes. The burning house you just put out will catch light in a couple of seconds. Everything stays the same. EVE offers the chance of real change, where the players actions have a tangible, long-lasting effect on the world... And people's reaction is to complain about it?

There's no pleasing some people.
