Is it just me or should a reporter do research before he post a story. I mean if I was asked to do a story on bass fishing, something I know nothing about, I would make sure to run the story by someone who, I don't know, GOES BASS FISHING. That way I wouldn't look like an idiot if I missed a word or completely miss understood a concept in bass fishing.Andy Chalk said:... seriously? You want me to learn about loot drop rules in EVE so I can be sure I'm zinging the right people?versoth said:it might be better next time to do a quick Google search for loot drop rules in EVE.
Keep making suggestions like that and I'll start making fun of you.
Most of us don't play EVE and we're not sufficiently interested to care about how things specifically work or who is responsible for one particular kind of silliness or another. From an outsider's perspective, these guys took a shot at a shitload of PLEX (I just about called it FLEX again) and came out with the short end of the stick. Maybe it's not entirely their fault but it's an amusing story and the "nice shooting" is nothing more than an amusing zing to cap it off.
I actually appreciate you explaining to everyone how it works because my assumption was that they just blew it. And I think that's pretty typical of EVE, there's always so much intrigue taking place that things are rarely as simple as they seem.
Don't get mad at your readers when they corrected you. A good reporter either A.) researches to the point where he's not getting corrected over easy to prove FACTS or if he can't be bothered to do that simple task does B instead, acknowledges a mistake and prints a correction. He doesn't get snippy at his readers. I don't know if your trying to be a full time reporter or if this is just a part time gig to kill time either way don't be so such an amateur.
