I never managed to successfully complete a single assignment on Frontier: Freespace II. Although I was only 7 or 8 at the time, so I could barely get my head around what I was supposed to be doing. I'd just end up flying my ship into the side of a space station.

Myst, played it...a long time ago o friends PC. I had no clue what to do, walked around, clicked stuff. I wonder if it makes more sense now that I'm much older.

For an entire week, i could not get past the first goomba on Super Mario Bros.

I believe this was near age 8.

For me the one that comes to mind was the fellowship of the ring for ps2. I was young when i got it and couldn't get past a part right after the intro where you had to sneak past ringwraiths for weeks, probably even months.
I know exactly what you're talking about! I spent an hour doing every side quest I could before that, then the wraiths totally owned me with their psychic senses. Never made it past that, even with a guide. I really need to redeem myself sometime.

Also, I'm pretty sure every single Splinter Cell level has beaten me somehow. That game is hard, especially when I'm used to rushing through cod levels.

Second sight
Got stuck in the hospital.

To this day, I still suck that badly on the first StarFox.

On good days I can make it to Level 2, but ultimately, I will forever suck StarFox.

Deus Ex

My Fn keys weren't toggled so i had to re-enter. Then i somehow got stuck in crouch and spent the whole getting over the river scene walking in slow motion from a massive mech walking towards me
As for the 'stuck in crouch' you probably had your legs blown off. More annoying than anything else. Yeah that was the tutorial level...

Playing Deus Ex on Realistic is such a painful challenge even after all this time.

Shames me to say - Assassin's creed 1 on PC.

Kept trying to push through the training stages (The one where you learn about the gentle push where theres like 50 people with pots on their head)

Took me ages to work out I had to HOLD the key, not try and press it when they got close to me lol.

I got God of War 2, but I couldn't get past the first part with the crates you had to push as I kept getting killed. After several attempts I gave up and haven't played it since.

Ghosts and Goblins. We actually purchased this monstrosity of a title. Never got past the second level. Who play tested that thing?!
Well, we found this list of some of the playtesters.

Ghosts and Goblins Play Testers:
God (Got to Level 3 then rage quit)
Morgan Freeman (Won)
Batman (Won)
Chuck Norris (Game shattered in half upon said tester touching it)

Interesting.
Heh heh! Nicely played, sir!
Was the Noah's ark thing another example of a God rage quit?

Are there any games that you got, at any point in your life, where you couldn't even get past on of the beginning points without outside help (like a walkthrough)? Please share.

For me the one that comes to mind was the fellowship of the ring for ps2. I was young when i got it and couldn't get past a part right after the intro where you had to sneak past ringwraiths for weeks, probably even months.
Oh man, me too, I never understood how to get past the one on the bridge that just waits for you...didn't you have to throw a rock to distract it or something?

Other than that, mainly just some N64 games from when I was little, never got through much more than the opening cinematic.

I tried playing Prince of Persia: Sands of Time in a foreign language in which I'm only semi-fluent. I didn't even get the bloody dagger.

CoD 4 level 1

This guy just kept dragging me out of a car, tying me up and shooting me. Couldn't beat it. Returned the game I was so mad. Must've missed a quick time event or something.

I'm pretty that that was what we call a joke, just FYI.

oh i know, pretty sure i just have an overactive sense of sarcasm
Oh, forget I said that then. It just seemed to me like you didn't get the joke and were taking it a face value, as that tends to happen often. Sorry about that.

Demon Souls is the only one I lost that wasn't intentional. I've lost a few when I was trying to look for hidden items or something.
