Haven't met any actors or such, but I have met Marylin Manson, Rob Zombie, and Maynard James Keenan.

I once met Ralphie May (the runner-up in the first season of Last Comic Standing) after he did a stand-up routine.

And by "met", I mean "had him sign a t-shirt".

You know how fat that guy looked on TV? He's WAAAAAAAY fatter in person. Seriously, I'm a pretty big dude, and he's like 3 of me. I guess that whole "the camera adds 10 pounds" thing works in reverse for him.

No kiddin I was at a convention and got to pee next to Deforest Kelly (Bones, Dr. McCoy, Star Trek) and I exited the bathroom and saw a number of groupies, including my own sister on her knees howling in excitement and she screamed get back in there and get his autograph!!!. I asked for it, but he just patted me on the head and said maybe later.

Later, Sulu (George Takei) gave Jelly beans to kids, including me at the time. I was maybe 14 and it was around Easter 1977.

I sold some comic books to Billy Mummy (Will Robinson Lost in Space) and he was largely being nice to me. Good fella.

Harlan Ellison was an Ahole to me, but, he is still a miracle to nerds over all. I forgive him.
In fairness, he said he wouldn't answer questions, but, when you attend a covention, answer some dang questions!
Ellison can be a little prickly. I think he does better when it's just him giving a talk and doing a signing afterwards. At least that was my experience. And yeah, he's one of those people that has done so much fantastic work, I'll forgive him for all kinds of bad behavior.

Not sure if it counts, but I met Forrest Griffin, and he trained at the martial arts center I go to. He was insanely tall, and incredibly muscular. Nice guy, though.
Ross Pearson used to train at my gym, he is pretty cool. I have also met Paul Gascoigne, (in Sunderland Wacky Warehouse when i was a kid, I got his autograph and almost got into a fight with one of his kids) Noel Fielding and Kevin Smith.

The only one I've met of note is Johnny Yong Bosch, a.k.a. fucking Adam Park from Power Rangers. He did the voice of one of the main characters from DMC4 and he signed some of my stuff. :D

My friends hate me now.

Do voice actors and the sort count?

Guy Lafleur, Chris Chelios, Herb Gray, and Chris Simon are the only famous people I have ever met, and they were all class acts.

Maynard James Keenan.
lucky....

I don't think I've met and talked to someone super famous. Just a few art directors from a few british game studios like Lionhead, but I do live near London and I'm lucky enough to see famous people every time I go there. Last time I saw John Travolta shopping around. A friend of mine who lives in St. Albans told me how he saw Spielberg and Kubrick talking in a pub. Also Johnny Depp has been seen a few times in St. Albans as well. A lucky friend of mine managed to get a photo and autograph. :p

I met a couple of mildly famous people in my time, tho fame alone doesn't seem to thrill me too much, I know someone fairly big in the pop world was at the opening of our music store where I worked, but I sure as hell can't remember who, but once I was starstruck in the most fawningly fanboyish way.

Some guy was buying some cd's and dvd's (I forget what, as I'd already run em thru and bagged em), and I'm signing him up for a loyalty card, this must have been around 2006 maybe?

Anyways, typed the name in, no bells ringing, address, phone number, then email... 'tvgohome@...' and it sinks in, are you the guy who writes that site? whoa, I'm such a fan *cue dribbling hero worship*, as I realise I'm face to face with Charlie Brooker, years before anyone let him on telly or knew his face (I think he had a guardian column but had a green blob instead of the usual author mugshot, so he could be rude to people without being recognised.) Probably strange to be recognised by an email address rather than your face or voice.

To his credit he owned up and was suitably embarrassed to have even one fan it seemed. I'm ust happy he's done so well without changing his style too much. Embarrassed but thoroughly nice about it.

He did write the story that inspired Terminator. It was an Outer Limits episode and he sued the Terminator production company for stealing his idea. The case was settled but Ellison got a writing credit for the movie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldier_(The_Outer_Limits). I saw him when he gave a talk at a local university. He spoke for maybe 1.5 hours then mingled with us and signed books afterwards. He was very friendly and personable with us. Along with all his great stories he taught me valuable lesson - professionals do not give away their work, they demand payment for it. If you give it away it's a hobby not a profession.

Have you seen the biographical movie about him, Dreams With Sharp Teeth? It's good and very Harlan.

I saw Nicolas Cage in Paradise Island back when he had his vacation home. I was on a cruise and we stopped at Nassau, and I saw him there.

I have not. I'll have to check Netflix for it.
