I loved Human Revolution, but I fired up the original immediately after beating it and was instantly reminded that it's better. Of course that's more praising with faint damnation than anything -- Deus Ex is my favorite game. Human Revolution is just in my top 20.
If they wise up and fix the boss fights in the next one (likely) and add melee back into the mix (unlikely) I will be ecstatic.
There's another point that Yahtzee didn't make, which is that Deus Ex also had several huge, open levels. Now, most of the game was as contained as Human Revolution, but Liberty Island and the few other big outdoorsy spaces were missed. Even the cities felt narrow and mazelike in HR. Not linear, but not open, either.
