I've downloaded and played the short but sweet demo for this game and I'm impressed.
but somehow the demo stutters from time to time and then runs smoothly for a while and then it stutters for like a second or so. I was wondering does this happend to anyone else.
My computer is cappable of running the game at high specs for it's not a demanding game.

I hope this is only a demo issue because this game is gonna rock so hard.

well it's the same engine as they used in F.E.A.R. and Condemned it's kinda like what left 4 dead is to halflife 2. I'm not a graphic whore or something but I just don't see why my game doesn't run smooth. I even get better performance in crysis on high settings.

I liked it. It scared me enough times to buy it.

Oh, and fuck you, monolith from 2001 a Space Odyssey.

They let go of the rights to do another Aliens FPS game, now being made by Sega.

Fuck you Monolith

its teething issues with the game engine being slightly modified, if they don't rectify it by release date

Fuck you Monolith

I've noticed from the original to its expansions F.E.A.R. seems to decline in graphical quality. This better not carry over to the goddamn sequel.

Ehhh...I wasn't that impressed with the demo. Sure, I can appreciate all the work that went into it, but it doesn't look like a game that I'd like to buy.
The environment is too damn dark and there's some annoying grain filter overlay thing all the time. It's also not as tense as the first F.E.A.R. There was only one instance in the demo that startled me (those of you that played it know what I'm talking about and those of you that are about to play WILL know what I'm talking about).
I am however, very impressed with the gore effects, however excessive it may be. Towards the end of the demo you get to do something really cool, and THAT was fun for me. Still, I don't think I'm going to buy this game come February 10.

I downloaded the demo for PS3 (seeing as Microsoft are only letting Hold members download) and I thought it was okay. It's got the action of FEAR and the horror of FEAR and some attempt has been made to bring them closer together. To be honest though, it's still a little jarring and the horror sections are still much better than the shooter sections.

Next is the controls. Whoever decided that R2 is a good button for shooting on PS3 is fucking stupid and sadistic and deserves to be shot. The only other complaint is the frankly shocking framerate drops during intense action scenes.

F.E.A.R. is one of the funnest and scariest shooters out there. To me it's classic. The demo LOOKS great, but thus far doesn't feel like F.E.A.R.

To me, F.E.A.R. was scary because you were trapped in tall building with no one to help you, while being surrounded by paranormal activities and Replica soldiers.

I felt SAFER when the Replica soldiers were around because I knew nothing paranormal would come at me, it helped create GREAT tension when you were alone in the halls.

I'm sure F.E.A.R. 2 will have SOME of these similar environments. But the demo mostly feels like just another run around a ruined city shooter (WWII shooters, Half Life 2, etc.), being out in the open isn't quite as frightening. I'm not going to be afraid of ghosts when I'm inside of a goddamn Mech.

Sounds like Monolith listened to too many moronic complaints about the environments being "boring" or "repetitive". And people bitching about not enough "variety" in the enemies. If this were actually a problem, F.E.A.R. wouldn't have been as respected as it is already... it WASN'T a problem.

So fuck you fans for complaining about an already fantastic game.

And fuck you Monolith for listening to them.

P.S. Why did you take out the lean option Monolith? Because there weren't enough buttons on a lame console control pad? Stop catering to consoles and leaving PC gamers in the afterthought.

P.P.S. I will still get this game... because demos don't always tell the whole story about a game.

I downloaded the PC demo, had no trouble running it and overall it seemed pretty fun. I have to agree with people who say the game looks a little dated. I'm no graphics whore or anything but seriously devs should still try and push the hardware a little. I am pissed off about no lean keys, that a load of shit for the PC version but I can cope without it like I did with FC2. So far it's been enjoyable and I hope the final product turns out great and becomes a potential buy, hell 09 looks like a damn good year. My greatest concern is the multiplayer, oh PLEASE don't make it turn out like the pile of shit that was the original multiplayer *cringes*. Lets hope it's GOOD, I mean there is a reason why the multiplayer was free, pile of crap.

I agree with most of this. Especially how it wasn't as tense. My problem with the demo is, exactly as you said, outdoors isn't good for F.E.A.R. My other is that combat (except the mech level, obviously) actually felt satisfying, which, while great for a pure shooter, should not happen in a horror game. All that said, I'm still getting the game.

My main problems with the fist game's environments wasn't that they felt the same within each area, but that each area (except the most exceptional apartment scene, best part of the game bar none) felt like the other areas (i.e, treatment plant felt the same as ATC, which in turn felt the same as the Origin facility). That wasn't even that big a problem for me though.
