I downloaded the PC demo: it ran like lame sloth and might lose a graphics comparison with the original Half-Life.
Fuck you Monolith
Fuck you Monolith
May've just been the way I was playing as I wasn't paying much attention at all really and Alma's little hug shocked the crap straight out of me.delta4062 said:the cinema section? all you do is walk through a hole in the wall.....Baonec said:Played the demo loved it especially the cinema section will deffinately be buying the game on release.

Maybe if they did stuff like have you in a gunfight then alma appears turns everyone into bloody puddles and start chasing you it might be more fun because they integrated combat with the horror aspect.
In FEAR you could always tell which section you were entering, no enemies means horror, but as soon as a replica appears you know you're in for some gunfighting.
Who ever said horror games can't have decent combat? Yahtzee has no effect on my opinions of games, though I find all of his perspectives hilarious. He hated Dead Space, I loved it. But Dead Space was a great horror game because it was good at creating tension with each potential encounter.... and as with F.E.A.R. you were trapped alone in tight places with nowhere to run. But the combat in Dead Space was also brutal and satisfying, it only made it better to me.Not a Spy said:I agree, with you for the most part, about the outdoors taking away some of the tension, and the business with the Mek. But Im really getting annoyed with the whole "horror games cant have decent combat" thing ( and the whole "post yahtzee" effect in general) but here's my point: A horror/ Fps like FEAR needs that satisfying combat, its part of the package.. the Replica soldiers aren't meant to be scary, they're meant to be a challenge to fight. Alma is meant to be scary, and she is. A Horror/FPS needs decent gunplay because its an FPS! (in part)And the Alma/ ghostly sections are there to scare the shit out of you. The formula works, it's what made FEAR so successful.
Your argument would hold more credibility if you had said that survival/ Horror games need difficult combat( though it still needs to provide some satisfaction) insanely difficult combat makes more sense in a Survival type game (Ala silent hill) because the difficuly, and the fun is in SURVIVAL!
Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate weren't made by the original team. Furthermore they are non-canon. FEAR 2: Project Origin, is the true sequel.JoeNightmare said:Sorry, but after the 2nd fear, the game should have been stopped. FEAR: PM contracts the bad case of the stupid as you have another random human contracting the same superpowers the demon spawn had(the first guy). but now they went a random route and tried to keep the horse alive with stitches and a new game. I love FEAR, and the 2nd fear, but i don't think ill be playing this new one.
