Cool. Here's hoping it takes off.

...that pun was horrible, and I am a horrible person for making it.

I saw this exact same thing (literally the exact same thing) in Popular Science (I think it was science, might have been Popular Mechanics) like two years ago.

What people don't get about this thing it's not like a car that you can just take off of a highway with and land on another highway, you actually need to drive to an airport.

I saw that earlier today, and being a pilot's kid I perked up. Moller has been a big failure for 40 years, only managing a 15foot hover, but this shows promise.

Keeping tabs on this.

naturally only a select people will be driving/flying this so we don't have to worry about morons with idiotic road(air?)rage driving/flying around haha

but honestly, when I first saw how well it flew I was like o_O in amazement to finally see this happen...and then wonder what took us so long
I mean really, did we just save this all for the 20XX years? lol it's a long wait considering that people thought flying cars would be common place by 2000

The aforementioned Moller Skycar:

Not just some wings strapped to a car.
Totally agree, give me a call when that's available to the public.

Edit: and actually works.

Yeah, I can see this "crashing and burning." Jokes aside, this isn't a flying car, so this doesn't bring us any closer to the idea of flying cars. This is just a Swiss Army Car that only turns into a plane and nothing else. Now if it turned into a giant flashlight and giant pen knife, then...no, it still wouldn't be worth the $194,000.
Heh heh. Actually, they dropped the price by over $50K. I read about this abomination last year. Its body is so lightweight, you'd probably WANT to keep it in the air all the time before some SUV ran over you like a beercan.

Considering that at any given time 5,000 planes (87,000+ flights per day) and an untold number of helicopters are in the air at any given moment, we're seriously going to add DRIVERS to the air space? There's a Sci-Fi channel disaster movie in there somewhere: Terrafugia Terror.
