Fable 3 actually worse than Fable 2?

Meh, I don't think it was necessarily "worse"...it was different, to be sure!
I didn't like the lack menus; I appreciate that Lionhead did something new, and congratulate them for that. But I just don't think the Sanctuary thing worked as well.

The story was better, I felt, and I really enjoyed being the King/Queen, deciding on whether or not to stick to your promises or break them. Although, the biggest complaint I have is that they should have given you a full year in-game to get the funds together, not just cutting the time after every ruling. That caught me out the first time, because I easily could have raised the funds just by doing the harp/banjo/guitar thing (I forget the name). I suppose they didn't want to make it too easy, but it was misleading.

The love interest was pretty good, although I preferred Elise to Eliot (even though they had the same script, he annoyed me for some reason). I always think that Lionhead fail on the marriage front, because your wife/husband constantly spouts the same speech as the normal characters wandering around the towns.

PLUS, the weapons thing was a little bit of a let-down - the weapons didn't feel Legendary or cool, because they were so easy to come by (in the shops). I preferred Fable 2 for this element.

I also hated the fact they took out the Expression Wheel! That was a fantastic inclusion in Fable 2. The three options you got with a single character at a time...meh, not so good.

To be fair though...the final boss was more climactic than Fable 2.

I dunno, it really fell WAY short of my expectations in some parts, but it excelled in other areas.

It seriously is, isn't it? The graphics are, if not worse, then no better, there's less content, it's shorter and less fun.

Fable III has to be the biggest let down of a game I can think of from this year

Until someone thinks "Hey! Nobody is making games for gamers anymore. Everyone is competing to make the dumbest possible game and pandering to non-gamers to dictate which video games should be made. Maybe we should make a real game for real gamers called Demon's Souls to see how well it would do"?

Congratulations for being smart From Software, Japan Studio, and Atlus, you actually had the idea to let every other company compete to get the scrubs in the market, while you can rule all alone the market of actual gamers.
Demon's Souls is a quality game (the best and most intuitive sword combat I can think of in a video game) but, and I'm going to incur some massive ire when I say this, I just wish it had been a little bit more accessible. Just a smidgen more, so it wasn't so god damned frustrating.

I suppose I'm just not hardcore enough for it

I really, really fucking hate the citizens dialog in Fable 3. I want to kill all 6 million people because their existence is consists of annoying the hell out of me every second I'm in town.

The shop prices are rather high. YOU KILLED HER, DIDN'T YOU!? YOU JUST KILLED HER! Can you deliver this letter for me? YOU KILLED HER, DIDN'T YOU!? YOU KILLED HER! You wouldn't happen to be into boys now would you? YOU KILLED HER DIDN'T YOU!? YOU KILLED HER!
Well the citizens have always had that problem, ever since the first one, I distinctly remember walking through each town and everyone both applauded and cowered in fear at the same time. On another note though, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU KILLED HER, YOU MONSTER!

I actually like Fable 3 a lot more than Fable 2. I like the improvements and changes, and the game world as a whole wasn't so alienating. I found most of the changes to be a great improvement. It's one of my favourite games of 2010.

That's just my opinion, though. I can get why people wouldn't necessarily like it.

I've played Fable 2 (with a friend) and I was like "eh", then I played a couple hours of Fable 3 with my friend and was like "A non-silent protagonist? Still eh". But my view may have been over-shadowed by Fable: TLC, where boosting strength doesn't make your chest poke out ... in the middle of your abs, where the will lines don't look like somebody carved open your face with blue uranium, and where the spell system allows for variety and fluid combat. Also, I think the clothing in Fable TLC is way better than the 'fancy pirate' type stuff from Fable 2.

In truth though, I've been spoilt, I had TLC on the PC (still do too) so bow aiming was mouse aiming, I could have 9 spells all conveniently lined up on the 1-9 keys and there was the money glitch that you could use to make millions off gems and augments in a minute or two.

the whole series has been taking the piss out of the magic system. I liked in the first game where magic let you build a wasp into a sorcerer minion, summon swords to help, turn you into the hulk and slow time to a crawl. Now it's basically the same as shooting a gun or doing a ground punch with any combination you try.

I never played Fable 1
Fable 2 was a terrible game, great customisation and a decent world to mess around in but everything else was incredibly boring.
Fable 3 was the complete opposite, absolutely terrible customisation, nothing to do in the world but great story and brilliant main characters.

I like F3 as much as I liked F2, but yeah, these complaints are valid. I agree that the last "half" as king/queen was a huge letdown.

However, I would like to say that the Hero speaking in this game is VERY welcome in my book. I don't like "silent protagonists" anymore. Especially in third-person games. Trying to pass something off as "you" when it's so obviously not "you" just doesn't work.

I have not even completed fable 3 every time i try to go past the halfway point where you are

king I just turn off the game it was really pathetic they did not flush it out at all. Add

the fact that i can no longer use the specific aim while using my gun and th magic system

still sucks like it did in fable 2 it was a waste of my time and money. Oh and lets not

forget about the job system the most pointless thing in the game.

"Hello great adventurer we need you to save the world will you plaese help us?"

"Can't i have to go work at the blacksmith today maybe tommorow though thats my day off?"

I have now offically washed my hands of you Mr Molyneux good day.

Fable is like the matrix. It starts off good but only goes downhill from there.
Exactly this. Fable 1 was by far the best. Fable 2 was buggy and no real improvement over 1, and 3 is even more buggy an no real improvement over 2. After the epic failure that was Fable 3, I will have nothing to do with any even remotely related to Peter M. Way to go taking gaming in the wrong direction Peter.
The fact that fable dumbs down the combat every games makes it boring, easy and repetitive. How come the developers of fable think that the easy difficulty is the only difficulty?

Just a side
In fable 2 I don't believe 10 year old kids should be able to survive getting shot off a 50 story building and face-planting into brick roads.
That is where I started hating the story.

In some ways I think Fable 3 is better... however in others it is worse. One complaint I have is that I'm unable to change my family's clothing so my adopted daughter is still dressed in rags from the orphanage despite me being up to my ears in gold... it's little things like that which just ruin the imersion of the game. I don't like the new interaction system either which feels more limited than the previous one.

Ill be Honest, I enjoyed Fable 3 although only because it felt like Fable 2 DLC.

Because everyone knows DLC is always crap.

Fable 3 felt more on rails to me. You never had any time to just go out, explore, build up your properties, or just fart in villager's faces. The other two fables took place over an entire lifetime, fable 3 took only a couple of years. it didn't feel free-form at all.

I think if they remade Fable TLC with the graphics and combat of the latter two, but kept all the core mechanics (health and will bars, experience and levelling, wider spell pool etc.) it would be fucking mindblowing.

But I'm also confident that if it were done wrong it would cause global facepalming. As in, 'audible from Mars' global facepalming.

I'm a bit disappointed that the few pro-Fable 3 people don't go in length about their opinion :p
