When you stop to think about it, this really can be a horrible reality we live in.

Just for the record 0 means that you think us all going extict would be the best fucking thing to ever happen.

Like i said previously in my last thread about this. The one hope...THE ONLY HOPE I HAVE IN HUMANITY Is Christianity. I'm 50 at the moment. What makes me lose faith is the way people can't accept other peoples opinions and see why they choose them.

Agreed (not with the Christianity thing, not saying that it's bad I just don't belive in it). It's easier to negotiate and talk to people when you understand their viewpoints/opinions, but people love to be right and hate to be wrong.

See something like this, I can talk to you because you showed maturity and the ability to respectfully accept that I'm Christian. And for that i respect you!

Groups of people have never solved anything and in trying to please everyone wind up pleasing no one.

I do have faith in a person, an individual. But Humanity? It's a joke.

Here's my worst. Whenever I hear the WBC (Worthless Bastards Church as I like to call them) protest another funeral of a dead soldier, AIDs patient, famous person, denounce another peoples faiths or insult a country in the name of their violent hateful "god" I'm at a loss as how these people haven't been shot considering how America is sterotyped as having a thousand fucking rednecks with a thousand fucking guns and how those types of people are patriotic to the point of stupidity. So the fact that the WBC hasen't been attacked by an angry mob pisses me off, those assholes shouldn't even be protected by free speech, what they do is a hate speech.

Angry mobs are not the answer...


Also, you've got to remember, the WBC is like... 50 people. If you want to get an idea of media hysteria, just think about that. These 50 people acting like asshats get extensive news coverage, while the millions of other practicing religious types, who go to their church/mosque/synagogue every week get none.

The people that say they are losing faith in humanity are almost invariably the ones examining humanity by its lowest rungs. It would be like if every time Uwe Boll released a film people proclaimed "I'm losing my faith in movies".

Good will always be there, bad will always be there. Its just how the world works.

You, sir, have summed up my feelings on humanity as a whole.

To quote Men In Black: "The person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it."

Using the OPs, scale: 25. Those little things that give me faith are the smal things you see people do on the street that never gets any notice. Holding the door open. Helping someone who tripped. Giving someone that extra nickle they need for their laundry. It's the little things in life that give me hope.

I believe Humanity is a glorious collective capable of achieving anything!

Not everything is great, mass murder justifiyed by religious/shallow reasons, racial hatred based only on the fact that the person has a differant skin color than your own, war over petty disputes, diseases that could be cured easily are left unchecked in some parts of the world, famine from crop diseases that could have been prevented if they had the same technology as we have and the ice-capdes. Some shit is just plain fucked up. Luckily there are also good things, too many and too unknown of to count, we really like to hear about what a shithole planet Earth is on the news don't we? Why do we find dirty news so facinating?

I'm frequently disappointed by humanity, but I know that a large part of that is because of how loud the worst elements of humanity are compared to the good.

I know that, as a race we can do anything and no matter what, I see that we're on the way forward. We're more peaceful and progressive than at any time before, and even the slides backwards are minute compared to the overall rate of progress.

It's just not always easy to keep that in mind when I hear news of some atrocity. I'd say my faith in humanity hovers at about 80% because of that.
