I can't be the only one to flatly disbelieve and dismiss this as Pranky MacTrollington from day one. There has to be someone else out there that completely ignored this also, and wasn't the slightest bit surprised.

Resist the desperate desire to believe next time, maybe?

A. I had a feeling there was a Rick Roll coming, just something about it screamed old school meme coming back to haunt you.

B. Now I understand the whole for the lolz idea, but seriously dude you already used the Rick Roll, quoting the over-used Joker lines just killed the inventive depth you used to trick folks.

C. And for that reason, I lost respect. You should have just let it ride with the "I'm an asshole" comment, that sufficed.

Other than that, well played but to be worthy of a Joker prank, you'd have had to kill a few hundred folks to achieve that level. Thankfully you're just a pretender.

Now, I'm not happy about internet pranks either, but this doesn't exactly qualify as "death threat"-grade justifiable anger. Let's all simmer down a bit and let the Bethesda assassins do their jobs...
BULLSHIT!!!

LETS STRING THE BASTARD UP!!!

*takes a breathe... multiple times...*

Okay, better now...

But seriously, as much as I loved the franchise, im not all that bothered about it being a ruse...

What a waste of $900.

It wasn't even a good joke, as gabrielle said in the latests yatzee let's play, a prank isn't clever if it's convincing people about something completed within the realms of possibility. Bethesda like money as much as any company so yes they will make a fallout 4. A true prank would be making someone believe something completely ridiculous, not a pretend announcement for an announcement for a game that's probably happening.

If you're going to make a prank, do it better.

I, for one, applaud him. He created a wonderful, brilliant Internet hoax, and no one got sued or had a SWAT team called on them. Everyone won, except for the assholes that sent death threats, they're just giant losers.
This very much.

I do enjoy how forthright he is about his intentions simply being to screw with people. I never actually believed it in the first place so I found it funny when I was proven right about it being a hoax.

"His exact words: Some men just want to watch the world burn."

*palm face*

Man, your not the joker. Your just some neck beard who has way too much time on your hands.

I can't say I'm surprised though, I kind of thought something like this would happen. I suspected this wpuld be some elaborate prank.

OK, I am a sad, sad monkey. I really expected this to be real (mainly because the site was "allegedly" owned by the parent company of Bethesda. How is that legal to put someone else name on the website for hosting purposes?).

The pain of this being fake is lessened by the knowledge that the guy spent $900 for a prank. I am impressed, but I still have to question the legality of it.

Sure, Bethesda would be crazy, CRAZY, to go after the guy (free press, no harm to their property, would make them look bad if they did). But still, it can not be legal to do this impressive of prank.

With all that said, I am still very impressed. I am also pleased that this guy makes me look all the more sane. $900 on Anime DVDs, sure; $900 on a prank, no.

He may try to push Bethesda on making Fallout 4 but I rather wait for their game to be fully polished and better than their previous game. Skyrim was enjoyable, but the bugs, the unfinished content, the boring quests makes me wish they spend enough time with it instead of launching the game at the fancy date of 11.11.11.

What's even worse about the hoax site is that it can sometimes interfere with the development cycle of the game. Take your time Bethesda, and don't release 'disappointment'.

I'm not saying this guy deserves death threats, but for wasting $900 just to act like a total jack-off he certainly deserves some sort of punishment. Something on the lines like dragging him out in public, stripping him naked, restraining him in medieval stocks, and have his ass paddled with a cricket bat while his bank gives away all of his money to people who will do something better with it (I.E. feed their families or pay their bills) while a group of mothers telling him "You'll never amount to anything acting like an asshole". Have it go on for 6-10 or until his funds are completely drained, whichever comes first.

Heh, he made life a bit more interesting there. Can't say it did me any harm so I'm not mad. Kinda wish people with too much money would do stuff like this more regularly. Heck... I'd kinda like to be one of those people with too much money for their own good.

But why? Why would someone do get so many fans' hopes up, just to crush them when the truth came out?
This comes from the article, and it's something Bethesda should explain to the fans of the older fallouts.

Is there some sort of secret group of turd-faces in this world that are obsessed with sending death threats? Everytime anyone does anything, some death threats get sent almost compulsively, like some lonely 40 year old that like to ring up lonely women during the day just to jack off over them asking who the hell is ringing them. Does anyone ever actually get an attempt on their life made? I swear these types of people must get some twisted joy out of what they do.

Digressing though, I'm glad someone out there was willing to put the money and effort into such sneaky trickery. It was the experience that counts. All those coded messages. That sort of thing is fun, until the game is up. This guy could easily be the next famous serial killer that plays cat and mouse with the police! Although i can only dream.
People just shouldn't get so serious, of course Bethesda will be working on another fallout at some point. It's a franchise that has done far too well to let die.

This.

There might be a chance that this idiot's stunt even *delayed* an announcement, rather than force it. Bethesda may have had something planned, but then after this was so positively received (I still don't know why...seriously people, it wasn't the *awesome event* some were making it out to be), Bethesda may now decide to scrap their original reveal plans for something more 'inventive'.

I. Don't. Care. Just develop the game to it's fullest potential, and don't pull another Skyrim for the sake of 'marketing hype'.

I had a great time speculating and hoping about the next iteration in the fallout series. I for one thank this self proclaimed asshole for setting my imagination turning. I also think he had a wonderfully designed teaser site and would not be surprised if Bethesda used something similar for its reveal what that comes around.

He did a good job, the world needs more arseholes like him to cause mischief without harming people. I'm unsuprised to hear he got death threats which is the sad but true reality of gaming these days (please direct any death threats for this comment to thensa@whateverthensasemailadressisseriouslyimtolazytogoogleit.gov).

I'm not sure whether he really expected Bethesda to actually announce something because of this though, I don't see why a fake teaser site would give them a call to action.
It's arseholes like him that starts and causes mischief that harms people in the first place. Why the hell are people condoning his actions? You think he's been victimised!? In fact I bet he's enjoying the special attention he's been getting.

Of course, you've forgotten the "don't feed the troll" rule.

He was doing for the "lulz". Tell me, where else have you heard this before? There is no greater troll. Trolls are trolls, seeking the next trick that gives them the adrenaline rush and sense of superiority.
Ok so who was hurt because of this? Have people been throwing themselves off of rooftops because a game that had not been confirmed at all isn't being made? Did he murder someone to steal their lifesavings to pay for the stunt? I guess we aren't allowed to have pranks on the internet any more then since all jokes are now trolling that result in wholesale death and destruction.
