correction there is 1 piece of knowledge i have not experienced in fallout and i almost have the answer. yao guai meat gives you a stat bonus (damage increase) so im pretty sure you can get addicted to it and i do not know for sure if you can or the effects of the withdrawal if possible so give it some time im stockpiling yao guai meat for my test (too bad all the yao guai in the yao guai tunnels are dead and dissapeared cuz i only have like 15 yao guai meat at the moment)
What are the yao guais?
Bears. Radioactive mutated bears. My advice is carry a combat shotgun for them.

They tend to start appearing around lvl 8 mostly through the south western half of the wasteland.
WTF is it with Fallout 3 and making already terrifying things even more terrifying? Giant Ants, Giant Scorpions, Mutated Bears, what's next? Octosharks and gigantic spiders with bat wings?
No. Mutated Crabs and genetically engineered chameleons.
Goddam* it. If you are joking, that sounds highly plausible for Fallout 3.

If you want to potentially have an easier game, max out your charisma and speech so you can skip quests or end them easier (and even get more stuff outta deals).
And be good so you can have a guy name Fawkes, who's a HUGE help.
Playing with Fawkes feels like playing with cheats on.

No, I'm dead serious. The Mirelurks are mutated crabs, and the Deathclaws are genetically engineered chameleons. Just be glad those damn golden geckos aren't in the game.

If I still have it, first thing I'm doing is busting a raiders kneecaps. Not kidding.
I prefer to smack their face off with VATS, but to each their own

I'm at the beginning of the game right now, and these are my stats:

Quest: Find the Museum of Technology

Level: 5

Wearing: Armored Vault 101 Jumpsuit, Vault 101 Security Helmet

Using: Hunting Rifle (Current Damage 17)

Actual Stats(SPECIAL):

STR: 6
PER: 6
END: 8
CHA: 3
INT: 5
AGI: 8
LUK: 4

Skills specialized in:

Small Guns: 60 points
Lockpick: 50 points
Sneak: 76 points

Perks:

Educated
Gun Nut
Thief(2)

I'm having trouble in the game and I'm wondering if I'm doing anything wrong. I've typed in my basic character sheet as an aid to the experienced Fallout 3 players of the Escapist in hopes of critiquing my current build and seeing if they have and tips or recommendations for me.
The problem isn't your character, your just doing a somewhat hard quest. You're not really suposed to go to DC (the south east) untill you level up more. Try things like Power of the Atom, Wastland Survival Guide, and Blood Ties

Of course I'll aim for headshots later, I just wanted to feel like a member of the mafia once, or should I use the plank with nail hammered into it?

Funny this thread should be here now, I'm at right about that point myself on my first time through. The game's tough at first, no doubt about that, but I actually restarted and found that putting lots of points into intelligence so you get more ability points per level helps.

The guy who tells you to do it's more slippery and dangerous than a live sea snake in a barrel of oil.
