Besides the fact that I LOVE RPGs, messing around on the game is quite fun for me. With the weapons and armour you can have, you can act like the serial killers on films. I like wearing a hockey mask and grabbing my Combat Shotgun and going on a headshot massacre in towns, then using a baseball bat or the shotgun to blast off limbs and then scatter them around the room.
...I know, I'm fucked up.

Oh, and I love how your choices actually affect the world (like if you choose to destroy Megaton in Power of the Atom it's permanently gone. Your sweet suite in Tenpenny Tower makes up for that imo)

The sidemissions are pretty fun in my opinion too. I don't even know why. They just are. I usually hate doing sidemissions on games, but Fallout 3's ones are good. And some story missions are good too. When you storm the place with that giant robot and the Brotherhood of Steel in Take It Back, that was pretty cool.

I have gone off it though. Most new generation games seem to get boring after a while.

Well, i think you got "Fall out" wrong, other than that... it's all about who plays the game, i thought it was fun as hell but again, it's not everybody's game.

Maybe it's because Fallout 3 is as much an RPG as a shooter, and from your preferances your more of a shooter type guy it seems.

That said, not every game is for everyone.

You might like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series though, and they are relatively cheap.

Don't force yourself to enjoy something. Borderlands is similar, but you can play online with up to 3 other players.

SImple truth :

Not every game is for you.

Forget the opinions of others, if you dislike something, don't play it, same goes if you like something and the rest of the world thinks it's horseshit.

I felt like being the guy.

Hey, at least you weren't the victim of a sixth year jihad on fifth year on their muck up day! Seriously, whatever they loaded those waterguns with, it stunk of piss.

It's your opinion, you may not like the game much, while others do. Everyone has a different opinion, and just because you don't like a game doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. You simply don't like it.
I think it's more to do with a buyers remorse thing.

I got Fallout 3 after everyone was yelling in my face telling me how great it was, and then i played it and thought it was terrible and depressing.

On a lot of occasions i did the same thing as the OP, asking people why they thought it was good and tips on how to get the most fun out of it. It just annoys me knowing i have a game that's potentially really fun but i hate it.

After a few big tips the fun meter started cranking up anyway, i'm guessing the OP is looking for similar tips ;)

I think it's only fair to pull out the preference card if someone flat out says the game sucks.

It's my favorite game in the whole world, and you don't like it...

...and that's fine because we have different taste.

It's all about personal preference.

EDIT: Sigh... Ninja'd by Hubilub again...

Fall out 3 - What am i doing wrong
Well, "Fall out" should be one word, "i" should be capitalized, and there should be a question mark at the end. :p

Jokes aside, not everyone likes everything. Every person's taste is subjective.

Looaddss of people think it sucks, you're not alone!

I did manage to leech some fun out of it recently by doing the quest to get a house straight away and then just exploring for ages. You can find some great stuff easily, like the chainsaw and alien blaster.

Once i found out that some quests meant others couldn't be completed it put me off though.
I'm a perfectionist and like to do as much as possible in one playthrough, but didn't have it in me to read a guide to do it.
Wait where the hell is there a chainsaw?

:O You don't think Fallout 3 is solid gold *shanks*

To be more serious, not every game that is praised by most will be liked by all. Take Mass Effect for example, everyone said it was brilliant, I thought it was just a poor quality shooter with blocks of text.
thats because its not a shooter, its a dialog simulator with a shooter element for breaks in between dialog.

Yeah if you don't like the game, then you don't get 100% completion and download 4 DLC's. unlock all achievments to suddenly realize that the last dlc has horrid, horrid reviews and still buy it anyway. realize that before point lookout was over that this game has become EXTREMELY EASY. Try the review thinking its easy gamerscore with awesome weapons. Miss getting all the alien logs, playing the HORRID dlc over again.... miss one, load the dashboard delete all memory of that game and return it to the store.....Almost 100% game completion with all dlc's..... I offically HATE FALLOUT 3!

but thats not gonna happen to me in borderlands.... no, no sir.... we will kill crawmerax, yes sir, kill, kill, KILL!!!
[sub]I also have a lv 61 siren(favorite girl game charater), lv 50 hunter and am working on a soldier.[/sub]

i do exactly the same thing. i play it, leave it, forget how to do it properly, begin again, have to do the same quests again and get bored of the repetitiveness. i have played it about 6 times and i didn't get far. enjoyed it mind

I put over 100 hours into it. I just really got into the whole setting, ect. The same with Morrowind.

TBH, I felt the same way about Oblivion, I did the main quest and a few other bits, but we never really gelled.

You may just be going through quests to fast. (I mean the easy/fast way) Here is a site to help you if you need it. (They have everything) Here is da link: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3

Note: You really do need to check grammer in your threads, or people will just keep bugging you. (If you use ALOT of bad grammer all the time you may even get suspended)

If I think i'm right ( I am:p) you are doing story and side quests in the wrong balance). if you do all of the story, your char ends up a bit underpowered, if you do all the side quests first, it becomes repetitive. so do 50 50 in terms of gameplay.

P.S, a few dlc's (broken steel/ point lookout are the best. they just are) wouldn't do you any harm as well. (op anchorage best for gear, tb51, GAUSS RIFLE FTW, chinese stealth armour, etc)

infact im playing oblivion as we speak.
Well if u didnt like Fallout 3 how could you like Oblivion??? Easily one of the most overrated games of all time, a complete let down in my opinion. I was a massive fan of Morrowind and oblivion was just a joke to be honest.

On Fallout 3 though, game tastes are personal, a lot of people love the game, whereas i know some people who hate it for one reason or another. Because other people liked it, doesnt mean you'll like if u play it there way, u just dont like it :).

I would normally call you a grammar nazi, but it was clearly my fault as I changed the fall out/fallout thing in the post itself a few hours ago and forgot to change the title, Will you ever forgive me oh master of the internet....
