Honestly, I've had about enough of Fallout for the time being. I'd rather see a North American based Rifts game made instead.

Canada. Mutated beavers and polar bears would be gosh darn amazing.
Though, truth be told, nothing else would be changed that much.

I've been thinking about a deep south, Louisiana based Fallout, going so far as to mess around with the New Vegas GECK tool in case I want to actually make a mod like that myself.

I was thinking that it would be cool to see a fallout game set in an area covered in snow.
maybe a lot of the nukes went off in populated parts of Russia so now everyone lives in the frozen parts. and you need to dress warm as well as look out for radiation.
or maybe Alaska where you can fight mutant huskys and moose... *insert mutant Palin family joke here*

How bout a radioactive Amazonian rainforest. It would be pretty interesting. Have it filled with monstrous mutated animals.
Flocks of flying piranhas. That should look pretty vicious.

This is quite old, but I have to say that the way any of these locations are sold to me works. Okay, the moon one is a bit far-fetched, but the Amazon, Japan and Australia ones sound incredible!

Fallout 4 took place in The Mojave wasteland.

(Even though I really don't like New Vegas, I still call it Fallout 4)
I dunno, that kind of thinking could be dangerous. You'd have to count Fallout Tactics (3) and... ugh... Fallout Brotherhood of Steel (4). Then Fallout 3 would actually be Fallout 5. So really New Vegas would be Fallout 6. Stop the madness!

OT: As someone already said, America is kind of where it has to stay due to heavy Vault-Tec involvement in the Fallout story.
Tactics, And brotherhood I don't count for several reasons.
They're a different Genre, And they are both not considered part of the canon...so yeah.
BoS, sure. But I thought Tactics was canon. And I don't see how they're different genre's. They're both RPG's, and Tactics plays exactly like Fallout 2.

(Also, just so you know, I'm playing devils advocate here. I don't really believe they should be counted either and I can understand why you would call New Vegas 'Fallout 4', but I can understand why they didn't too.)

In before Fallout nerds say anything non-America makes no sense.

It's exactly what happened last time we had this thread anyway.
In before?

China struck first with everything they got, and America returned with only a fraction.
False. According to cannon, nobody knows who struck first.
President Richardson said that the Chinese struck first. They were busy getting ready for the great war. They WANTED China to fire, in order to fall into their trap.
What Richardson said could've been Enclave propaganda. According to canon sources, nobody actually knows the facts. Here, it might say it in the timeline.

Last time i checked propaganda is to inspire.

"we are whooping their savage asses now!" is propaganda.

"Our asses are being whooped! Send help!" is a plea for help.

If Richard was going to use propaganda, he would have said "we slapped those commie bastards right back to china". He wouldn't have said "we lost, fast".
Propoganda can also be hatemongering - "It was those goddamn commie bastards that started this whole mess!"

They should make it in some huge ass city like New York, Filled with obsticles, and endless ruins... Second thought, I'd prefer it to be someplace less cramped...

Fallout wouldn't work in the UK or any other part of Europe. The UK, in particular, would be annihilated beyond recovery by a full-scale nuclear exchange, being the country which has the densest distribution of potential nuclear targets in the world. Not even Fallout's SCIENCE! would be enough to change that, and they didn't have an equivalent to Vault-Tec to count on.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2023790698427111488#

Watch that movie - it'll show you just how fucked the UK would be in any nuclear exchange.
It's such a shame, because I'm genuinely interested, and yet I can't watch because they had to use a dirty great spider as a visual analogy! The bastards!

I wouldn't want to see the Capital Wasteland again... the Mojave was just so much better. Maybe not so bleak, but definitely more vibrant and exciting.

Also, if they were making a new one I wouldn't want it to be urban, wandering around Washington D.C. in Fallout 3 was just tedious because of all the rubble forcing you underground. Why make a whole city and then discourage people from exploring it?

That Florida idea sounded pretty good though. But having only been to Florida when I was 4 and having not heard much of it since then, I don't really know what it's like so it's hard to tell what the post-apocalyptic version would feel like.

I would keep in in America. Anything else would probably conflict with the feel you get from playing Fallout.

London. That would be cool, especially if you got to go to buckingham palace and big ben and stuff. And deathclaws in trafalgar square. that'd be cool.

p.s. If there's something in fallout that says deathclaws were only in US im sorry. i only played new vegas.

I think what's more important is that where ever it's set and whatever the storyline is, that the next Fallout game (if there is one) finally ditches Gamebryo and uses the new engine from Skyrim. That is by far the most critical element to success of the next Fallout.

Personally, I have given up on F:NV for the moment because 40 or 50 hours in the bugs have become so frequent that I literally can't play the game right now. The last time I tried playing, I got a quest breaking bug right off the bat and after a reset I had a complete freeze about 10 minutes later. Haven't touched it since.

Now if I want a Fallout style gaming experience, I pop in Oblivion. Otherwise Demon's Souls and Dead Space 2 are taking up my time, even though I'd quite like to finish the main story of F:NV.

The Commonwealth. It's got one of the last remaining institutes of science in what's left of the US.

Or how about anywhere else, like Nashville, Detroit, Wall, I don't know. I feel like it should be in America, because that's where most of the game's lore takes place, but it's always in the most obvious places. DC, California, Vegas?how about somewhere else for a change? Games are never set in Chicago, or Houston, or anything like that. Have it set someplace not obvious, for God's sake.

I would love to see my home country of the UK being covered, It would be interesting to see the difference between the two counties (albeit only in a game).

Surprised you hadn't already made one, my first thread was the first thing I ever posted.
I second that! The last time me and my best drinking buddy went out and got rat-arsed, we discussed London as a great Fallout location. It has many landmarks, the obligatory subway systems (The Tube), a bloody great water-hazard (The Thames) and so on. Alternatives to Vaults could have been built and, as any River Rat will tell you, London is honeycombed with ancient, underground tunnels and suchlike, which could have been re-purposed into shelters.

London Zoo could be the source of any mutated creatures, Tower Bridge could be involved in a quest (fix it so it can be lowered to gain access to more of the map), Big Ben could be a stronghold for a band of "raiders" who all have Cockney accents and the whole map littered with old Routemaster Buses and Black Cabs (all given the "nuclear" look, of course).

Oh and tea, obviously!

A planet that's been colonised by a mysterious group dating back to the 21st century.
Something like that.
