It feels silly to make this joke so late in the thread, but fuck it, I'm gonna do it anyway:

Toronto's already a wasteland, you don't need fallout for that.

-m
A very smelly wasteland. (God Lake Ontario smells) I say it would still be a cool location for a DLC. (Or a least a freaking mod or something)

Fallout Canada will be the series debut of some truly vicious Supermutant Brahmin enemies who will have ridiculous amounts of hit points and rad resistance due to a still-functioning health care system in the Commonwealth.

Oh yes, and perhaps the Brotherhood of Steel will be replaced with the Mounties.

Still, it's worth a shot...
The Brother Hood of Veal. (HA, Canadian Bacon joke. Also I'm going to copy right that name)

Americans, Canadians, and everyone else out in the world, what do you think? Isn't it time for some veriaty?
No

The Fallout series has always, and should always, taken place in America. This is for a reason. The game's setting focuses around an exaggerated American gold age that was devastated by nuclear war. The fate of other areas of the world is ambiguous for a reason. Think of all the reoccurring themes that have been shown throughout the series. Many of these are heavily tied to the American setting.

While Canada is a bit more reasonable than, say, China, I still think the Fallout games should stick to America. At least, that's my opinion. I don't think there is any reason to change the setting just for the sake of variety, since there are already tons of varied landscapes and cities here in America.

However I wouldn't mind briefly vising Canada in something like DLC. I just don't want a whole game set there.
You pretty much nailed my thoughts exactly. I wouldn't mind a nuclear winter in Canada that much if it didn't really mess with the story of Fallout in general. We had a DLC that took place in Alaska and that was a huge dissapointment in my eyes.

I don't know, maybe the appeal of a desert wasteland is greater then a frozen one. Especially when the desert wasteland has Deathclaws.

Survive a trip to center island while desperatly defending the ferry from looters attacking anyone foolish enough to take to the water.
Centre Island would be such a cool place for a fallout game. (You could even do something with that little Red Train they have and that Mine Cart Ghost Ride thing)
And yes anyone foolish enough to swim in lake Ontario PERIOD is going to loose some skin. (How about lake Ontario's water turns anyone who drinks or touches it into gouls?)

Have you even been to Canada? We have plenty of large cities. Don't post something ignorant like this without knowing what your talking about.
Are you serious right now, dude? I mean REALLY?

Doesn't it get ridiculously cold there too? I've been to neither.

They both are much colder than Australia anyway.

Were you being serious? It just pisses me off when American think the whole damn country is snow. That why at the border in the Summer you people with skies on there car. Um... you would have to travel about 1000 miles North to even start seeing hail at that time of year.

Edit: I live in an area with enough green you would think you were in Pensylvenia. I'm only 30 minutes from the biggest city in our country Toronto.

You'll find people might take you more seriously if you spell, punctuate, and capitalize correctly.

As to the original post, while it would be interesting I think it's ultimately futile to debate, it won't happen. You need a location that has iconic representation and diverse elements to make for an intersting setting. While lots of Canadian locations have this, they're only apparent to Canadians. America is the target demographic for the games (and Europe to a lesser extent). Ask the average American for info about or the location of say Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City, or Halifax and you're likely to be met with a blank stare. Our cities/locales are much smaller and thus do not have the ubiquitous prominence of the cities and locations of our southern counterparts. This isn't a commentary on intelligence or education, etc.,it's just the way it is. Another problem would be that in the Fallout timeline Canadian locations would be very different. All the cities would be way smaller especially Vancover and Ottawa. Toronto wouldn't have the landmarks. So we're left with what? Fallout: Quebec City? I don't think it will fly. Halifax might be neat with it's port and all, but if you were going that route, Hampton Roads would be way cooler and more recognisable and therein lies the rub. :(

I think the best us Canucks can ever hope for might be an expansion pack. Imagination and creativity could fill in the blanks for missing source material and let's face it, it would probably be Toronto. Here's my pitch: They've changed the name back to York and set up some kind of confused restoration of a monarchy. Maybe? Meh.

If we can have mutant moose and Canadian geese, I'd play it.

I'm also keen on the idea of Fallout Mexico City. I'd like to wander through one of those Aztec pyramids in the wasteland.

Nah....

Fallout Hawaii is still gunna be next on the list. It just makes the most sense and sounds bloody perfect. Giant mutant sharks, volcano, Chinese invasion, huge pearl harbor military base, surfing... and no invisible walls. Only endless oceans where sharks kill you.

And DLC islands!!!11
no mutants. they are products of FEV. so have fun in a no combat exploration game with no story.
Only the super mutants are products of the FEV chambers. The other creatures are just radioactive. IF so, then why are there mutants and super mutants in Nevada? And are you really incapable of coming up with at least 3 solutions to that problem? honestly now.

I'm sorry but isn't part of the fallout theme the destruction of iconic locations(such as vegas,DC,etc.)If anything fallout london should be before fallout canada.
