Obsidian does a good job of ruining sequels. Fallout NV is not worth it, it is a lot worse than Fallout 3.

If you liked Fallout 3, you will probably like New Vegas. I enjoyed it more because it had a better story and choices and less because the exploration was not as fun as Fallout 3 was.

My advice, if you do get it, don't play Hardcore mode first. It really soured my opinion. The food, water, sleep thing wasn't too bad, but Boone repeatedly dying due to fucking Cazadors dying was.

Well, seeing as you can get it for under a tenner at some places, I don't see why not. I have not encountered many bugs at all and I preordered it. Aside from a few insects doing handstands I've not found a gamebreaking problem.

Did New Vegas win game of the year?

But yeah, it improved lots of small game play things from Fallout 3, such as iron sights and factions. As far as bug, it hasn't been Andy worse than Fallout 3 for me. Though, I am playing it on PC which supposedly has the least bugs.
Every game gets game of the year from someone. It really is just the way the title the special release and get some more sales though. Not that I have any problem with that.

I bet there will be another game of the year edition, so wait and see if that will come out first and then get the dlc which are awwwwwesome by the way. The game is one of the best games out there and patches have fixed quite a lot of the bugs. So buy it!

Ive only had a few minor bugs, so its worth it, I've replayed it 5 times and I still play it. And with the new mods that are always coming out, the experience is always different.

Get it, but get the PC version, for mods.

If wouldnt get mods, dont get the game. The mods make the game what it is.

It's definitely worth it. I've been playing it lots lately, and the bugs have been patched to the point where they're noticeable, but manageable. It's a great game, I say go for it.

I recommend it.

It is a great game, the usual bugs are minor annoyances. There are rare-gamebreaking glitches, but a quick check online will tell you which ones are still present and how to avoid them.

It definitely is the best RPG we've seen in the last few years. I'd even go so far to say it's at least in the top 5 RPGs of this century so far.

So yeah, try it.

Get Fallout 3, instead, if you don't already have it. NV is far worse, in my opinion. Some hardcore Fallout 1 & 2 fans might think the opposite, but if you're in it for gameplay enjoyment and stability, Fallout 3 works far better for me, and has way better LOD. Yay, the voices are a bit better, nevermind the fact that the story and setting is boring.

I liked Fallout New Vegas. Playing on Xbox, the bugs were few and far between. I had a couple instances where the game crashed on me, but that is the price that you pay for such a good game. Also, get the DLC. It is great.

If you can't play Fallout 2 for some reason and haven't played 3, yeah. But as I'm sure people have said, it needs modding. Having played the series in order (except for Tactics since it never bothered me) Fallout 1 and especially Fallout 2 are far better. Better story, better writing, better fun. Not as good graphics, but what do you expect with with an 11 year old game that still surpases many of the more recent game fun-wise?

A few questions about this.
I keep hearing different stories about the bugs. Some say that the bugs completely ruin the game but others say that they are only a minor hindrance. I've heard some people say that they never got any, and some saying that most of the major bugs are patched by now.
If I were to buy the game now, what would be its status and would it be worth it?
I have 140 hours play time.

I've had game crippling bugs only a hand full of times.

There are a lot of bugs I wouldn't considered game crippling. It certainly isn't a "bug free" experience.

And I only got them after I installed the DLC.

I recommend that you purchase it. I recently started playing the game again on the 360, and it's a blast. I started a very hard/hardcore playthrough, which has made the game much more interesting. Fallout 3 is only better with the environment, the Mojave is more empty when compared to the DC Wasteland. It's still a great buy though.

I don't encounter many bugs, except for the occasional freeze.
